PA trout opener Saturday

Anybody going to PA for the trout opener this weekend?

I'm headed down to Woodward, PA tomorrow with my BIL for the weekend for our annual trout opener trip. Can't wait to get on the road. Good booze, good food, good fishing, and great company. Should be at least 12 of us down there. Ill take plenty of pics to share.

What an absolute perfect weekend it has been. Left Friday around 1pm. Made it to the mountain road about 4pm and started up. Got to the peak and there were cars and people all over. It was everyone headed to fishing camp. They all arrived around noon and decided to stop and enjoy the weather and the view with some cocktails.

We over enjoyed and made it down to the cabin to make dinner. We had marinated smoked venison backstrap and roasts, with homemade handcut French fries we cooked outside in the turkey fryer. Had midnight hamburgers at 1am and made it to bed at 2am.

Woke up at 7 and found out a bear had visited camp between 2 and 7. He got into my cooler as I had brought a hash brown potato bake. Bastard ate the whole thing and all the oil in the fryer. Drug another cooler into the spring and another 32qt cooler was 35 yards into the woods. Cleaned up and had breakfast, and was at the stream edge by 7:57am. Waited 3 minutes and casted at 8am. First cast, fish number one for the day. The other 5 I caught throughout the day did not come that easy. Lost more than I caught and only kept my 5.

Between 6 of us fishing, we caught 22 stocked trout, and several small brookies, and the trophy of the day was an 11 inch brookie caught by one of the local guys.

Less cocktails on Saturday night and got up at 6:15 and to the creek by 6:30 this morning. Between my BIL and I we caught 7 to bring home. Great weekend and can't wait for next year.
