Oregon grape holly...I don't know how I missed this one...pretty,  semi shade loving semi deer proof and loaded with edible berries with medicinal health properties. Game birds and even Fox and other critters relish the berries and makes good jam. Prickly so good cover ..not actually a holly,not a grape. Easily propagated...I will add as one of my new plantings...the Goji are doing well from last year. The other will be either heart butternut ..though in a far off North corner...They shade and roots can inhibit growth of other plants.

Google Oregon grape holly...links will give you all you need.. there are 2 main species..look for the tall ones...they produce more.. I'm on the kindle or would post links..

Ok I can link now so here is a link to them....multipurpose plant...can even be used in Christmas decorations....leafs are very much like holly and if planted near your home berries are not poisonous to the kids or animals...plus pretty flowers in spring..for hunting ...good semi shade food source...game birds fox,deer, bear
