I've seen it posted several times over the years and I found a solution not sure if anyone else had posted this but here it is.

Use 90%+ Alcohol and wipe down the boots...

I believe the stink is an oil they use to make sure the boots don't dry rot in the box...Like most oils 90% IPA made short work of it.
