Syracuse.com - Oneida Lake ice fisherman lands a few nice burbot

"We got out off of Constantia yesterday. About 1-1/4 mile out in 18 feet of water. There was 5-6 inches of hard clear ice," he said.

Bob Twichell, of Fayetteville, sent me this pictures today of some nice burbot he caught on Oneida Lake, fishing through the ice.

He wrote: "Got out off of Constantia yesterday. About 1-1/4 mile out in 18 feet of water. There was 5-6 inches of hard clear ice

"We got a few walleye and also 6 of these nice size, burbot (or ling, or lawyers, as some call them). These in the picture are about 26 inches or so. I filleted the tail sections to eat for a little change of pace."
