  1. Ill have to look into this option as well. See if I can find any good deals on these. 500 seems affordable. Might look for something additional for scanning.
  2. would this someone happen to be you? LOL Ill have to take a look. I went to the Harrisburg show this weekened and those pulsar scopes were super cool. Too much for my blood though.
  3. Thanks for all the feed back guys. I think I'll start with a light and see how I do with that first. Then move on to better optics with NV and thermals.
  4. Ive been looking at some of the thermals in that 1k range and Ive read that if you are going to buy one got for the higher end. If you dont mind sharing what did your set up cost? I dont think the return will be high enough for me to buy a 4k set up for coyotes in NY. Love the sport but i go out maye 5 time a year. So might be better off with a light set up.
  5. Anyone use thermals, night vs, or lights to hunt coyotes? I usually hunt the early am with none of these and have had some good success calling dogs with mouth calls. But I’m interested in night hunting. Not only would it be cool to see how the dogs use the area but it would be cool to see how all animals use the night. any suggestions on optics? or goggle set ups? don’t want to break the banks on $$$$$$$ thermals but have been looking at some of the pulsar optics.
  6. Congrats on the buck! I’ve had multiple tags in my pocket before and its not easy to fill them all or even two but it’s fun to try. This year I took 7 guys to Wyoming including myself. We had 6 antelope tags and 6 muley tags. filled 3 muley tags. Two doe and a 2x2 buck. It was their first time hunting them so they shot whatever walked. I was waiting on a bigin and he just never came. I ate tag soup for the second mule deer season in a row. It was delicious lol. I don’t mind tag soup. I want a mature buck. Prior year i took 2 guys with me and we all shot antelope. That was a fun hunt. Hoping to draw an elk tag this year in NM, WY, or Id. If not ill be going over the counter in CO. Any advice?
  7. Thats awesome to hear you got permission on some private land. Any plans to go back again?
  8. Looking for a lease to hunt with exclusive rights to hunt. Willing to pay a reasonable fee for this. I have hunted over 10 years, dont leave tree stands up. I hang every set i hunt and take it down with me. Prefer either big woods or agricultural. Cash in hand for the right land.
  9. Spent a few hours looking for squirrels and sheds saturday. Didnt bring home either was a good day in the woods. A before dark survey of the fields in the area show bucks still holding. Hunting the Cato Ny area.
  10. How is the "City" hunting? LOL. Im not far from Syracuse my self. Im sure we get a share of people coming from the city life to enjoy the great outdoors! I typically hunt private land around here. But have hunted some public in western New York and the ADK
  11. Sorry, new to a formum thing. Checking it is probably important haha. Typically a big game, small game, predator and waterfowler. Hunting NY since i was a teenager with my grandfather. In the last 7 years i have been waterfowl hunting a decent amount. And in the last 3 years I've been going out west every year for big game. Shot an antelope year one. Ans spent the last two year after muledeer with no success due to me being picky. Hope to draw an elk this year.
  12. Typically a big game, small game, predator and waterfowler. Hunting NY since i was a teenager with my grandfather. In the last 7 years i have been waterfowl hunting a decent amount. And in the last 3 years I've been going out west every year for big game. I fish during the nice weather. The girlfriend is better at fishing then I and I'm ok with her knowing it hahah. I love my bow and long range rifles. Dont really enjoy both bow and gun. Im an all round do what ever gets me outside guy. Hunt in onondaga county. How about your self?
  13. Thanks, 3i have a wealth of knowlege when it comes to western hunting. A decent amount of knowlege for here in NY. But dont particiate in social media so finding like minded people in my area to discuss stuff with is through direct friendships.
  14. Onondaga county. A fee friends in livingston have picked up a few.
  15. Agreed, why expose more than needed. If butchering sure, but if its cold out and you are dragging it out of the woods. Just get it done with the small cut, reach up in to get the esophagus and keep it clean. A lot of times I will leave the heart in the cavity (with the protective sack on it) after I’ve gutted out the deer when I don’t have a bag to keep the heart in. If the gutting incision is too large you will lose that amazing piece of meat! Don’t leave the hearts it’s the best part!
  16. I don’t cut the pelvis. I cut to the pelvis and reach up as far as I can and cut it out. Haven’t has any issues doing it this way for years. And I don’t need a saw for cutting the pelvis
