I’m not going to escalate this conversation further, but just want to point out one key point. That, is the difference between my original Verbiage “hundreds to thousands dead”, somehow being changed into Crappy’s internet “fake news” version of “Hundreds to thousands of reported.” That’s a huge difference, But for fun Let’s do some simple math. 50 plus found dead in cold spring ( by Two guys) 25 dead on one farm in goshen, 40 in rock tavern by ( 3 guys) 13 found dead along 400 yards of creek In fishkill by (1 guy), 30 plus on another rd in Goshen, then adding all the mystery deaths that are happening all over the place. Which happen to be coinciding with a rare EHD outbreak... that’s over 150 known dead right there. Found by a very few people, on a minuscule portion of the land known to be affected. So, for every one deer found , how many are unfounded? anyone that spends any time in Orange County, knows we have swamps in almost every section of woods, and once a deer goes in , good luck finding. Just something to think about..drive down the rd in areas of and 3m In evening with your windows down.. there’s dead all over, that will never be accounted. Many hundreds to thousands

Kinda , they’re usually jerks and crappy at hunting as well..,
-
Don’t worry guys.. it’s “fake news” and even if it were real, there’s no lasting impact. No excuses Biz! L’il ol’ me will just keep tripping over dead deer, everywhere I go, but everything is fine
-
The only thing they can do at this point, is react to this year’s abysmally low take, by adjusting the dmp allotment for Next year, in certain wmu’s. That is the only arrow that they have in their Quiver. There’s no way to Accurately keep stats..When dealing with that much land. like already said, since the tags have already been issued, The Googan army will kill everything that walks, come November, regardless of the disease.
-
Involved in what? There’s nothing they can do about it. But hope for frost, like the rest of us.
-
It’s expanding. Many hundreds or even couple thousand dead..
-
Pretty sure I already outlined the areas I’ve seen effected, and provided photo evidence of the hammering. They’re probably not too concerned, since even at half the amount of deer in our area, there’s still plenty to go around. They certainly are not going to be endangered anytime soon. Hammered to me is 14 dead in a 400yd stretch of creek, 26 dead on one farm and over 30 dead in one neighborhood..I guess it all depends on where you hunt, if it’s not in your area, it ain’t too bad..if it is, it’s hammered? Look, I’m in the woods 150 days a year scouting or hunting. Which means, I’m probably more aware of what’s going on, than the average person. But, with that said, If you or anybody else is not convinced the deer herd is taking a pounding in our region, it’s not my job to be the convincer.

Didn’t mention testing. probably not practical , when it’s been confirmed in the area. Just said, hope for a chilly October. Which is about the best we can do. As a hunter, I’m bringing it up, so others aren’t surprised, at lack of deer in certain areas..probably a good idea to pre season scout water holes to see if area is affected, then go off of that. one area that got hit, still has a nice buck I’m after, so they’re not all dead, but if I had to guess, at least half the herd is gone there. Frost is still a long ways off and Hunting is tough enough as it is around here It seema spotty, I’ve looked at areas that got hammered, than a mile down the rd , no signs of it. The areas with constant running water. Or plenty of it, seem to be the best, which makes sense

I’ve been e-mailing a DEC wildlife biologist on number of dead and where. the ones I’ve came across are all in groups, and mostly near known EHD areas.
-
More likely EHD or some type of natural death than hit by car. No sign of trauma, and it’s a short dead end street on a hill
-
Friend’s mother’s house Putnam Valley. Short dead end street. Can’t drive fast.
-
Dutchess, but Orange is getting hit as well. Draw a line from goshen to cold spring , then up to fishkill. Huge area. I’m not saying the whole area is effected, I imagine it has spots more effected than others, but everywhere I or people I know, looked in that zone has been hit.
-
It’s EHD. They’re laying like that throughout the woods. Buddy found 14 dead along 400yds of creek today, but they don’t all go to water. We found a few in fields. One stumbled through a person’s yard on my street and died in their driveway. Here’s one about to die. Too weak to stand. highly disturbing stuff.
-
Add fishkill area to the list. Buddy is finding dead and dying. Deer are getting wiped out
-
Here’s some with velvet. Lmk if you need to see more.
-
The velvet had rotted off it, mostly. Coyotes ravaged the carcass . And we’re able to chew the tips off, since the rack hadn’t completely hardened. Trust me, or not.. it was this years. Along with the 7 others I found that day and 13 yesterday.. 90 degree heat, with high humidity will Make a Skelton In no time.
-
More bad news..I walked around Washingtonville/ rock Tavern area, and came across tremendous death today. Does, fawns and bucks. At one point I walked up to a dying doe, thinking it was another corpse, but it was not quite dead. It got up and staggered away from me through the brush.. never seen anything like this
-
Orange County Rock Tavern area..
-
It’s real, found 8 In varying states of decay. The one small buck I had on cam less than a week ago. Also got a doe that looks like it’s walking to it’s death bed..

Guys, not a member here, just saw this conversation going while scrolling the internet. I hunt and run cameras Dutchess, Orange, ulster. i noticed extreme lack of deer in areas of Dutchess this year, then heard This news. Yesterday I went for a walk to look for bodies and found 8 dead. One was a beautiful 10 point. What a shame.. from what I saw. It’s going to take couple years for herd to rebound, going to look little more today in couple areas. I’m hearing bad things happening now in Orange.
