    The place I hang deer is full of apples this year. Can I have Raw Venison and Apples in the same small room? I know apples put off some kind of gas that kills live trees and spoils root vegetables. Any one know if this will spoil the meat?

    No requirement for "professional" but might need to be de boned ect for CWD Depends where the meat is coming from I have heard that it can be trucked somewhere in PA to a freezer where house and then picked up but I was told that is "expensive" and 5 hours away.

    Going for Moose. Airlines are expensive. $100 for 50lb box and since they are smaller planes they limit the bags. From what I read on the website no dry ice at all or it is a pay hazard fee which was really high. I like the idea of mail. Call UPS freight and they said they would not ship meat but some one else said they have used them so who knows. There is the international issue as well. I figure I can get 100 lbs on the plane with me some how and then.....

    Going on a hunt in New Foundland and flying. Does anyone know what is the most cost effective way to get meat back from New Foundland Canada? When your not driving. thanks

    What are the options for shipping or flying back with meat from New Foundland? What is most reasonably priced? Anyone else going up this October?

    Are you going to rejoin?- I remember seeing something about a new Pres in the Outdoor news. I think we are out of areas where the 3 point would make any sense. When the DEC was thinking about YBP for the state they had 4 points for most of the state and other regional staff from the west think a spread would be better.

    what is it? The antler restriction? None has been proposed. I have never stated what the antler restrictions would be in other parts of the state nor has any one or group proposed a specific restriction for new areas of NY. That is for the DEC biologist to set. When did you quit NYB?

    Here is the QDMA rule on AR support- it is three points all of which are in met in NY. The guy above left this out. Here is the link to national QDMA http://www.qdma.com/articles/qdmas-position-on-mandatory-antler-restrictions AND these are the three points for support. First, is the restriction biologically sound? This means the proposed restriction will protect the majority of yearling bucks while allowing the majority of bucks 2½ years old and older to be eligible for harvest. Second, is it supported by the majority of affected hunters? Agencies considering an antler restriction should conduct surveys to determine support levels before enacting the restriction. Finally, will it be objectively monitored to determine success or failure? Without monitoring, there is no way to know if the restriction should be altered to improve success or possibly removed altogether if it doesn’t work or is no longer needed. If hunters in NY were voluntarily passing yearling bucks we would not be have this conversation about yearling buck conservation!

    QDMA Absolute supports Mandatory Antler Restrictions nationwide provided they are supported and properly set to protect yearling bucks. In NY the majority of NY hunters support yearling buck protection with antler restrictions.     Don't forget to say the units you want yearling buck protection with antler restrictions in. Also the antler restriction standard would protect 80 to 100% of the yearling bucks from harvest by adult hunters.

    I am unclear as to what one can own in the AR style in NY today and what type of magazines you can have. Anyone know the law? If you can not find one here to buy is it ok to get one in another state and bring home? I am getting the feeling they are sold out everywhere but..... Also how many own them in the state- the more owner the less likely they are getting taken away.

    Please let me know who wants Yearling Buck Protection with antler restrictions in their area and let me know what county and WMUs (Wildlife Management Units) you hunt in. Feel free to Private Message me this information. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO ARGUE THE ISSUE FOR THE TENTH TIME. There are lots of threads for that already! Please only respond if you want this hunting improvement in your area!

    It is true that does do not need to be harvested every where in NY and in areas with few deer doe harvest needs to be limited. ARs are about buck age structure which is improved dramatically by not shooting yearling bucks. And of course this should be instituted in the entire southern zone where it is supported by the majority of Deer hunters. Common sense if you do not shoot little ones they get older.
