  1. Sorry Here you go
  2. Just got back from a week of paradise. The first 2 days were a disaster. I have a week end worrior nieghbor who shot a 7 point and lost it in the woods. That bothers me. I had another camp up the mountain from me who dicided to "sight in" and drink on the day before opening day. All 8 of them. They could not figure out why they did not see any deer. The good news was they all left by lunch time Sunday. All quite!! I went out on Monday morning and and saw 5 does walking through the woods with out a care in the world making more noice then I ever heard before. That was of caurse before a 7 pointer that was following along with what sounded like he was wearing snow shoes going through the woods. I thought it was a group of hunters because i never heard so much noice in my life. They were 70 yards away and if i was using an Ipod, I still would have heard them. I spot my deer but it was not clear so I waited until he hit the trail after the does finally thier he was but i only had 2 seconds for a shot. i know he was legal as I could see his points from the tree stand but not his body. BOOM I take a good safe clean shot. I hit him him and waited for 10 minutes to go look. I go down my tree stand walk to where I hit him but no blood. I walk around for 10 minutes making all kinds of racket looking for a sign and nothing. I take my second hat from my pocket and put it on the ground where I know I hit him. I go back up the hit hill back up the tree stand to get a better visual again. As I settle in and zero in on the hat all of sudden the 7 is walking towards me. He was at 60 yards and closing in. I thought why shot him as he is getting closer to me and walk towards a better area to gut him out. I thought I hit him. As he got to 40 yards or less he turned sideways and I saw the hole. So I took the neck shot and he dropped like a stone. If I saw that I hit him sooner I would have never waited. 2 deers in 2 years all within 20 feet of each other. This is my spot and i am not telling anyone I hope all had a a good safe opening week.
  3. A track loader is a bucket loader that drives on tracks not tires. If I have a picture you would say I have seen them before. Thanks,
  4. Does anyone have a name and number of anyone who moves heavy equipment? I am looking for a track loader and when I find one I will need it moved. Also if anyone sees a trackloader for sale please let me know that too please. Thanks,
  5. I am about to sell some timber on my land and I would like to buy oak trees as a replacement. Does anyone know any good nurseries around the Stamford area? I will travel an hour or so. I am hoping for trees around 10' plus size and healthy. Any info would help.
  6. Has anyone harvested timber from thier property? I have a lot of Ash , Hard Maple and Cherry that are a good size. Any companies better then others. I live in Delaware County so I dont have any restrictions. I do not want to just take the money and run. I love my woods and I am looking to make them healthy and keep them going. If I can make some money why not but it is not the driver. If anyone knows who is good out there and more important who is not please let me know. Any questions I should ask? Should I cut down the trees and seller to the highest bidder? Is that worth it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
  7. I am thinking of doing some selective harvesting on my property. I have a lot of Ash, Hard Maple and a few cherries. I am out of the quarantine area so it is no issue there. I have been getting numbers from contractors which all are about the same and the split 50/50 has been the same. Finally Wagner Lumber came over and the number is a little better in my favor and they seem to be a little more wood management friendly. Has anyone dealt with them? or does anyone have a contractor who will do the right thing with my land. I do not want a place that looks like a war zone when they are done. I can make good money with only 2 % of my woods getting harvested and keep the woods healthy. I love my land and I want to make it better, not just take the money and run. Please let me know what you have experienced if you worked with Wagner or any other. Also any questions I should ask. ANYTHING this is not a project that can be reversed.
  8. Those dam marines should get their asses kicked. Not for what they did for video taping it those dumb asses. I have already wrote our congress people (Who all suck) and started to tell them that the marines should be court marshaled so they would keep reading my letter. Then I suggested that the court marshal should be held in a public forum maybe a small field in Penn or the front lawn of the Pentagon or maybe down NYC. I love the part where the President of Afghanistan was upset with them for doing it. I think he should shut his mouth and be thankful the Marines are there protecting his dictatorship. Maybe I am just tired and ranting but why don't we just get the hell out of the mid east, keep the money here build power plants and wait for them to kill each other and just take the oil. Just a thought.
  9. I have been reloading for many years, here is what I can tell you. I have a Lee press for pistol it is great for the money. Since you are going in the 30 cal way go with RCBS as it is a better press for those sizes. A progressive press is the best way to go but it cost a lot more. A Lee turret press will work but it but it is made for the bigger rifle calibers 30-06. Here are the items that are a must: Tumbler for the for the brass case lube case trimmer a digital scale (regardless of what people tell you, much faster and more accurate then a triple beam scale that comes in the kit) A RELOADING BOOK!!!!!! DO NOT LOAD ONE BULLET WITHOUT READING IT!!!! a bullet hammer (You take apart bullets with it) If you go with Lee you will be in for about 300, if you go with a RCBS figure around 600 easy. Here is what I did, I went with a Lee turret press first to see if I liked it. I did so then I went with the RCBS press. The good news is once you have the press dialed in you can produce a lot of bullets. The next question is why do you want to make bullets? Because they are cheaper to make than to buy them NOT TRUE!! But you can make real match grade bullets for your guns and really dial them in. I make 308 bullets that can hit a tack at 300 yards over and over. I also reload for my M1 Garand, Carbine, 1901 Springfield without worrying.
  10. I have a small creek running through my property. After it comes down the hill it levels off and the water slowly works it way across the property. I was thinking of digging an oval hole let the water run in one side and then let it spill out the other end and keep on going. Any info would help. I was thinking of hiring someone but I am cheap and I like playing in the dirt too Thanks,
  11. I have property in the Grand Gorge, Stamford area. I have some creeks and springs running through it. I would like to know if anyone has some info on where I can rent heavy equipment like a bull dozer etc to build a pond? Also any feed back on building a pond would help. Thanks,
  12. I am going up this week end to try coyote hunting for the first time. I have camo, calls property and an AR-15 or 308. I dont have a 5 round mag. Does anyone know if any stores in the area sell 5 round mags? Also is thier any other info I should know? Thanks,
  13. I got back yesterday from the house. I got myself my first deer there a nice 6 pointer. The place is what I always wanted. I cant wait for turkey season!! Also I will be setting up food plots in the spring so you will be hearing for my crys for help. Thanks
  14. I just got back from Grand Gorge. I just bought the property last month and I got my first deer there. It was a nice 6 pointer, he walked right up to me within 30'. I didn't have a perfect shot so I waited until he walked away from the high grass so I could make out his shoulder. He was now 50' away from me and in no hurry to run. One shot my season was over by 7:17 on opening day. Great place great time. The rest of the time I had to hang around the house with the wife. The meat is already in the freezer and the head is getting stuffed. Cant wait until turkey season. Didn't see any bears but the place is loaded with scat and tracks. I didn't see any coyotes but heard them every night running around. The gut pile was gone the next day. Can't wait to start building a pond for fishing.
  15. Sorry folks, I have 23 acres. I think the management area is 4, O in grand Gorge. Any info about the area please let me know.
