It seems to me just about every time out its been crazy windy. Twice I had to get out of my tree stand.

Has it been obnoxious windy or is it me

Thanks for the help guys... I'll be checking the weather and movement for that week and we will see. I have a doe in the freezer from this Saturday so I'm in no rush to pound the area for the next week or so. I was also able to catch this fella on my train cam opening weekend. DSC_0100.bmp

I think I would a little causious because of the 60# min draw weight if you shoot around there give or take. I'm not very fond of $49/3 price tag either. All in all not that impressed with them. I like the fact that I can shoot the practive Rage and field points without any problems though.

The difference is a slightly larger diameter and blade retention ring over the "O" ring design. Same leading cutting edge it looks like.

I hunt both gun and bow. I do most of my hunting in the Southern Zone. But I'm only 20 minutes south of the North/South border.

I use the older 2" model and have not be that impressed. I lost a dear lost weekend. Although I made a poor shot I expected better performance from them. Very very light blood trail coupled with rain didn't help. This past weekend I shot a good doe, pass through shot, great blood on the arrow. Again very light blood trail...I started to panic... I eventually found the deer, but the exit wound was plugged with a ton of internals hanging out. Has anyone experienced that?

So I just found out that I have 4 day of vacation time available I have to use before the end of the year. What is the general opinion on the rut? I have heard rumors of they are starting the chase phase now. What do you all think is the best time to take time off? Thanks

I'm only starting this thread because I need to say I'm sorry. After almost 30 of hunting I lost my first deer. I know probably take some sh*t..... I shot a good doe at about 7:45ish... pass through shot, quartering just a bit to me. Arrow covered is green.... liver! I only had a spars 30 yard blood trail. I waited an hour or so, did the grid, then half circles every 5 then 10, then 15 yards. Nothing...then rain...called deer search waiting for them to get back. Just wanted to get it off my chest... not that it helps.

I have a Weatherby Mark V, 7mm-08 short action........... love it. I would suggest 140 gr and up. I didn't like the performance from ballistic tips though.
