A few years back I went into a swamp in Putnam county with a shotgun and a backpack in the dark after duck. I was headed to a particular spot where I could get out of the muck by sitting on a downed tree using my gps. Wearing chest waders, my right foot went deep into the muck - up to my knee. When I couldn't get any leverage I began to panic and worked up a serious sweat. I didn't want to dip my gun nor did I want to fall over. After a period of time I calmed down since I realized if I just stood still the situation wasn't getting any worse. I finally got my foot out by slowly shifting it and giving the muck time to fill in under the boot. When I was finally out the sun had risen and I was physically and emotionally spent, so I just walked out and got some breakfast at a local dinner and headed home early. I never told my wife that story or she would give me a hard time going out alone.

That was very funny...

Of course if a law abiding gun owner were to take him out, he'd be vilified for preventing law enforcement from being able to interrogate him. Then he'd be portayed as a modern day Jack Ruby!

This proves that no one can really say "can't happen where I live." With all due respect (my cousin is in law enforcement, so I mean it), police carry firearms to protect themselves. If ever it is necessary, God forbid, the Second Amendment guarantees that you can protect yourself and your family, even if our founding fathers never conceived of terrorist attackers who would murder civilians on the streets of Boston.

It is also my understanding that after applying for a permit to hunt, there is test given in the springtime, whereby you have to qualify with your bow. I know, that doesn't say anything more than you did, but I am confirming what you heard. Try contacting one of the parks that allows hunting for details.

That was a good question. I was wondering the same. So if you have no interest in selling the pelt or a mount/rug, do you just leave the carcass it in the woods? A Yote is a lot bigger than fox, so its apt to be seen by someone (until its devoured).

For Sale: Used Stock & Forearm Remington 1100 20ga Standard Frame I’ve replaced the stock and forearm on my 20ga 1100 Standard Frame with a synthetic stock, so I am selling the original. Stock is uncut and comes with butt plate. There is a ¾” scratch (NOT a crack) on the stock that is clearly visible in the photo. Wood has nice checkering and the diamond inlay grip cap.
