  1. Hi All, I just ordered a weed wiper: http://www.ruralking.com/weed-thief-rope-wick.html Instead of waling around my plots with a weed whacker and just toping the weeds I'll wipe them with a bit of roundup and kill them. Anyone else use a weed wiper for this? Bob
  2. Thanks for the info. Don't forget Turner's Hemlock Farm and Home Ag way in Hemlock NY, 585-367-2315 They have lime, fertilizer and seed. Bob
  3. I know they like sun so the north end of the field should be good. They don't like wet feet so watch out for low spots. The do like grow tubes and competing vegetation should be eliminated. This is one I got in the mail last April. The rest cleared their 4' tubes but this one went nuts, it was under 2' when planted. Bob
  4. Depends on the kind of oaks. Mose take 20 years to make their 1st acron. 20 years ago I stumbled accorss some english oaks. They grow fast and start producing in about 8 years. The ones I started 20years agoe are as tall as a 2 story house. I have one that's about 10 years in my front yard and it;s about 15ft high.Bob
  5. You never know what you will get when you grow from a seed. You may even get a tree that woun't bear any fruit at all. With that said you could start a tree from a seed, top it when it's a few years old and graft on a known producer. We do that with young wild apple trees we find growing at camp. If you have never grafted check out the fruitewise series on youtube. Bob
  6. I think I am going to skip on Remingtons in the furture. In my life I have purchase 3 870's (2 were wingmasters), 2 700's ( adl and a cdl) and a 541 all new. I don't think they need my money any more. Bob
  7. I got mine from Meader Persimmioms from Millers in Canandaigua. I think they grow them there.
  8. I don't have it with me right now but i have an apple ripening chart. You don't want to pick varieties that will have all falling of the trees two weeks after archery opens. I'll look for it tonight and post it. We have a lot of wild apple trees growing at our camp. When we find a young one we top them and we have some trees we pull sions from and do some grafting. It's fun and cheap. Don't forget meader persimmions for gun season.
  9. Hi nycredneck, I got a Pure (60lbs, 28.5DL) right after they came out. My old bow was about 12 yrs old. What a difference a decade made. I went with a pure because there is a dealer near me, the fit and finish are very good, and maybe the best but I am not a fan boy. They are headquartered in Henrietta NY so if I ever need warranty work it's not a problem. The back on them is very solid and its was very dead in my hand with just a rest on the bow.. My only neutral comments (not really negative) are if you relax it will creep, jerk, forward but that is really more about your form than the bow. The second is make sure your DL is correct as you won't be adjusting it yourself. They have 1/2" mods that have to be replaced in the cams. Once it’s set for you this shouldn't be a problem but when you go to sell it down the road it may limit then number of people who would be interested. Since I have had it for two years now I would say it’s a good shooter and forgiving for me. I have taken 2 deer with it so far, a 6pt and a 7pt from the wapping distance of 10yds. The 7pt I shot a 2nd time at 30yds. .All arrows have been clean pass throughs. Not a bad bow but also don’t limit yourself. Make sure you try others. Bob
  10. Oh yes, Cramers in Honeoye Falls. They closed about the time Tracter Supply opened.
  11. The only other local place near me I know is Turner's in Hemlock. I get lime, feterlizer, landio clover and winter rye from Jim. Bob
  12. Has anyone ever tried their Kura Clover? I have read a bunch of good stuff about it on Ed Sp. site. Sounds hard to get established. Bob
  13. I to have a .308 Encore. I took a 5pt at 130 yds a few years ago wihi it. I sure is a hoot to shoot wiht one hand! I have alwas hand loaded for it. I wish it would have been in 260. I love that round. A few years back I got a Savage ML10 and do all my gun hunting with that now. Bob
  14. Hi All, Has anyone ever ordered form these guy? http://www.welterseed.com I am thinking about getting some stuff from them. Thanks, Bob
