They were hitting good for me a few weeks ago, including about an 18" brown and a 15" bow. Havent hooked up with anything since then.

Acme kastmasters also work good for me, regardless of temps. Generally use 1/8 oz. The blue/silver and rainbow trout colors have seemed to be the best. I see you're from dutchess, are you fishing the wappingers creek? Brian

Yes, I have a few - Why ask the questions you asked, and why have them so open ended? In a scientific study, don't you want to get the most accuracte and description answers possible? You're questions are very, very broad, and seem to be more towards getting hunters to say they have broke laws, and so much whether they agree or disagree with certain laws... If you want specific answers, you have to have specific questions.

I gotta agree, seems a little out there, to say the least. Please, post what the survey is all about, as well as your "project"...

What excactly is your project? I'm sure everyone else would like to know as well. I did answer the survey, as well. Brian

To me, most of the laws are there to actually keep it fair. We already have scopes, high powered guns, scent control products, manufactured tree stands and ground blinds, etc. We call it "hunting" for a reason. It wouldnt be any fun, nor would it be fair to the animals, if we were aloud to sit in a tree at midnight, over a bait pile, with a spot light, and a pocket full of buck tags. The laws also help ensure that these animals can thrive for years and years to come. If everyone goes out and shoots every deer they see one year, imagine what the next year would be like. Whether we like all the laws or not, they are (mostly) there for a good reason, and we need to (and should) follow them regardless. Just my two cents, feel free to disagree.. Brian

As per the DEC website- " Possession of Firearms During the open season for deer, it is illegal to: possess shotgun shells loaded with slug or ball, unless holding a valid license or permit to take deer or bear, or possess a rifle larger than a .22 rimfire (muzzleloading rifles excepted) in areas where rifles are banned for taking deer So, during deer season, nothing bigger than a .22 rimfire. Then, under the "furbear hunting" section- " You may hunt furbearers with a rifle chambered in any cartridge, except that during any open season for deer - including archery, muzzleloading and regular seasons - you may not possess a centerfire rifle afield, during the day or night, to hunt wildlife, including furbearers in any county or portion of a county where deer hunting with rifles is prohibited during the regular deer season." So, when its not deer season, you can use whatever you so desire. Brian

If you look at both closely side by side, they look very, very different.

Nowhere in what you posted does it say "shot only". What you posted is simply stating that you can use shotguns to hunt furbearers at night with any shot size... That dosent say "shot only", "no slugs", or anything to that affect...

Nice! Hope you're getting him mounted? Congrats!

Same thing goes for trapping, but thats only because the land owner where I trap dosent like me to set any until after the season.
-
Yep, I hunt small game, but during deer season, small game takes the back seat.

15 yards? You kiddin', last year I shot a big 6 pointer ( my first deer ever), at less than half that! lol. Same stand for both deer. Its a homemade wooden stand. Had to stand up and shoot offhand for both shots. I just move slowly and as quiet as possible. Although this years doe was probebly closer to 20 yards.
