Fox does great work, and is a great guy. His prices are right in line with everyone else.

Same to you. Go get em, stay safe.

I agree. I thought the same thing elmo, but couldnt figure out to word it as to not sounds rude. Some of the best hunting memories I have are pre season scouting, times when ammo was left at home or in the car, or a funny story of me and 2 other guys sharing one shotgun last deer season.

Now that I totaly agree with. Anyone who just applies for a random DMP tag in hope to trade for what they want dosent sit well with me either. I didnt really think of anyone doing something like that, and as you said, I would call bullshit on THAT as well. That is not at all what I intended this thread to be when I posted it, nor is it what I am trying to do. I'm sure my 2 3N tags will get used this season, whether by me, someone I trade it to, or, one of my hunting buddies that also hunt in 3N. Being I got 2 this year, I'm just trying to see if anyone would rather have a 3N tag, that has a 3G tag. For example, 3G has no chance for a second choice, but high for first. 3N has high, and medium. I'm looking for someone that mostly hunts 3N, hunts a little 3G, and put 3G as their first choice, and 3N as their second, hoping to get both, but only got 3G, and would rather have the 3N, even though do they a little hunting in 3G, or, like covert said, maybe 3G is where they hunt if they get a deer at a different location first. Sorry for the long post, hope it all makes sence.. lol

Ok... And I dont believe anyone else here does that either.. I would not agree with applying for a DMP in a place that you do not hunt in whatsoever, and thats something I personally would not do either... Like I said, 90% of my hunting is in 3N, so I always just apply for 3N. I have always just gotten one, this year I was lucky enough to get 2. Since I was lucky enough to get the 2 for 3N, I'm trying to trade one for 3G, where I will be doing a little bit of hunting this year, and I know there's some nice does where I will hunting. What's wrong with me trying to get a tag for 3G, since I was able to get 2 for 3N, and help someone else out who's looking for a 3N tag at the same time... Sportsman helping Sportsman... You and me are talking about 2 totaly different scenerios, or so it seems....

Don't let it deter you from eventually getting the rifles/shotguns you want, and hunting. That's exactly what they want. Don't let "them" win. Until you are 21, and are able to get the permit yourself, try to find someone out of the city that could store the long gun for you. Also, like others suggested, why not trying to take up bowhunting, or crossbow hunting? I would not let the whole situtation take you away from hunting. Brian

If you dont like it, dont do it. Its all legal, and not morally wrong, so why do you care? I know for me, 90% of my deer hunting is done in 3N, and a small amount in 3G. That being said, I certainly wanted to get a tag for 3N. 3G had no tags available for a second chance this year. I wasnt going to make 3G my first choice, and 3N my second, and then most likely not get a 3N. So, I put in for two 3N's, and, for the first time, to my suprise, I got both. So, whats wrong with me trying to trade one for a 3G?? I don't need two for 3N, I already have a bow either sex tag, and I wont take more than 2 does from where I hunt in 3N. I'd like to have the option to take a doe if I should see one during shotgun season in 3G... Whats so wrong with that...? No body is saying they dont hunt where they have their tags for... They most likely have 2 for that area, and would like to open up their options.. Or, they have acquired new hunting land since mid august when most people bought their licenses.

Know of someone trying to trade a 3M or 3J for a tag that covers Tivoli. Also, I'm still looking to trade one of my 3N tags for a 3G.

East Fishkill provisions? Assuming thats the place you mean, I had some italian sausages and peperoni made last year, and its fantastic. My uncle has been going there for years. Their prices are very good as well. But, if you were looking for a full butcher, I dont believe they do that. I think they just process the meat into finished products. You can either bring them chunks and they grind it, or you can bring it already ground. I could be wrong though, they might do full deer.
-
Now they have copper colid sabot slugs for $9/box after a $5 mail in rebate per box. I picked up a few boxes earlier in the week.
-
Still trying to get a 3G tag if anyone has one! Will trade a 3N tag, or if you dont want the 3N tag, I'm sure we could work something out in trade! Brian

It has to be sleaed eithe before it changes hands, or I believe withing 10 days of the end of the open season for the furbear. Where you get the pelt sealed (location wise) I'm sure it differs depending on where you live, and where the officer currently travels. For example, when my Uncle got a bobcat a couple years ago, officer James Davey of putnam went to his house.
-
It literally means that they will put a seal on the pelt. I belive it's a little orange or yellow plastic tamper-proof seal, unless they change the color from year to year. Info on getting a bobcat pelt sealed can be found here- http://www.dec.ny.go.../9209.html#Pelt You dont have to get it sealed immediatly, so, you would call a DEC officer in the county you live in. You could also call your regional wildlife office.
-
Just make sure you are carrying a furbear possesion tag if you plan on taking one. Its nothing you need to buy, just something you can print out off the DEC site, or cut out from the regs book. You need to fill it out after taking a bobcat. You'll also need to call a DEC officer from your county to get the pelt sealed as well.

As per DEC site- Clarence Fahnestock - Bow only Hudson Highlands - Bow only And I know there is a few other spots as well. Plus there is the DEP reservior land (not bow only), as well as a bunch of other land that you're aloud to use shotguns on.
-
There's a bunch of land along 301 and other surrounding roads that is bow only. The link you posted was DEP land, not state. Check the links on the DEC web site, and theres even more that whats on the site.
-
I'll have to search it and get the actual locations. I just know how to get to them, not what roads, etc. haha. I know putnam is a shotgun county, but there's a lot of state land that is bow only. Not sure why, but it is.
-
Any of you guys use all the commercial sent control stuff? The laundry detergent, soaps, sprays, etc? How well does it actually work? I was gonna pick up a couple kits before the season, but, not sure if it will just be a waste of money or if its actually worth it. Thanks, Brian
-
Yeah, if you're really not going to use them, maybe find someone who wasnt fortunate enough to even get one, or someone who could really use the meat, etc. But hey, I guess you the right to get DMPs, just as everyone else. Brian
-
I dunno what you guys refer to it as on this forum. It says "pinned" next to the thread. It means its stuck at the top of the Deer Hunting section, and wont fall down each time another thread gets a post. I assume the mods did it so this can help out all the guys looking to trade DMPs, and so that there's not a bunch of posts form guys looking to trade.
-
...or not. lol. Looks like someone already took out the second half of the sentence... Now it's not giving me the option to edit.
-
Hm, I never knew there was a problem with just giving someone the $10 for applying. I guess it makes sence though. I'll edit my post accordingly. Sorry about that. Still looking for a 3G if anyone has one! Brian
-
No worries, just figured I'd ask. haha. I do most of my hunting in putnam, but have a few new places to try in 3G this year. There's some nice state land in putnam, but alot of it is bow only.
