  1. adirondackarcher thank you again for your service to this great country. Today i buried one of my best friends and a fellow marine. After being home for 3 years the pain and suffering of loosing some of his best friends in combat forced him to turn his gun on himself and commit suicide. If you ever have any problems or need someone to talk to feel free to pm me and i will give you my phone number. Too many young american warriors are committing suicide these days and i vow to do anything i can to help out my fellow servicemen. Now as far as the hunting goes fuck yea lets do it! You let me know where and when and i will be there!
  2. good point i was not aware that you could camp out in sterling state forest This is getting more and more exiting by the min! With heavy snow fall expected this year it may be a little tough to camp out and find dry firewood etc plus i would prob get in trouble if i got nabbed for starting fires in the middle of the woods. Then again two miles deep who would really know. I have to find the best spot to go in. I have to meet some other hunters or hire a guide i really want to learn as much about this sport as humanly possible. Im hooooked!
  3. yea you guys have helped me out a lot. lol flobots lol She takes blood for a living scary shit lol Im getting into waterfowl hunting someone has to monitor theses god damn canadian geese!
  4. hell i am having a week like that. Two days ago i found out my grandmother had a stroke a week before that i totaled my car and to top it off i just got back from burying one of my best friends and fellow marine from committing suicide. Keep your head up brother and get back in that tree stand this god forsaken rain has got to let up some time soon.
  5. well i am from long island and i am trying to find places to hunt that are not going to be as crowded as public lands. Spreading the word around that you are a hunter is an interesting situation. Most people are extremely against it until bam! you find another hunter amongst the midst of haters! I was at a funeral last night and today and i met two fellow hunters already one with property upstate. There is so much to learn about this sport it excites the living hell out of me! Now i want to find more people with similar views!
  6. hey thanks again greybeard I appreciated the email and i am gettin on those permits as we speak!
  7. its all good brothers thank you for your kind words. The funeral was devastating its going to take a life time to get over it.
  8. After having trouble sleeping from hearing that my grandmother had a stroke yesterday i went in to work to do some masonry. As i was unpacking the pick up truck i got a call from one of my best friends rob who served with me in the usmc. I greeted him with cheer and the sound of his voice struck my mood away as i walked down the driveway of the house screaming no my friend was on the other line explaining that my best of friends John had had it and decided to turn his gun on himself. After protecting our country and risking his life the battle finally caught up with him. He was a hero, and a friend with a laugh as contagious as the flu. I will always remember the way he smiled and the day he could not wait to tell me that he has signed up in the United States Marine Corps just as i was coming home from boot camp. I remember the worry that ran across my mind and i was overwhelmed with pride that there are men out there that give a damn. There are heros that throw shit to the ground and make a stand for each and every one of our freedom. So the next time you come across a vet. Shake his hand and thank him for protecting your loved ones. John I will always love you brother until we meet again. Semper Fi Brother...
  9. sure thing i might just hit sterling for opening day but i would not mind renting it out for a few weekends of rifle season if no one else jumps on it. Would be nice to be the only one out on the property and you can bet ill respect your land and neighbors. I am a former United States Marine and my word is my bond. If its just sitting up there looking pretty you might as well take a chunk out of the taxes your paying for it. I would call and be 100% honest about the days i will be going up.. pm me if your interested.
  10. yea your right i just got my pass in the mail today for the hunting season! I tell you what i would love to harvest honey boo boo's mom that chick is smokin hot!
  11. yea man its rough i am a mason and carpenter and i work mostly seven days a week. Me and my girlfriend have a one bedroom apartment with no dreams of having a house some day. There is no money to be made and any i make goes right to bills. I totaled my car last week and my grandmother just had a stroke today. The entire family lives paycheck to paycheck and it sucks. Someday i hope to escape this place but until then i will take advantage of my hard work and labor in taxes rent etc and i will hunt the shit out of ny ! My family will eat my harvest and enjoy my hard work! I will not go quietly into the night and i will pay more attention to the beautiful surroundings of long island and ny. I am an avid fisherman and as of last year now an avid hunter. And my grandmother is still alive and hell i got a really good deal on a 98 chevy s 10. Got a lil rust and 130000 on the clock but shes got a cap that will keep my rifle dry! And you can bet your ass i will be riding that bitch up state come opening day and im gonna keep riding it until the wheels fall off! I suggest you guys do the same. Enjoy this state while you can. Too many people overlook the beauty that surrounds them. People get too wrapped up in there own stressfilled lives that they forget to stop and smell the damn roses while they still can!
  12. hey thanks a lot man i really appreciate the info. My father was a duck hunter but gave up hunting all together. Its a shame we never got to go together. If i was interested in going hunting on long island is there a park i can walk in on foot and hunt duck or goose? I want to utilize the island more since it is so expensive for a younger guy to survive in. I have always been into fly and spin fishing but i have never gone out on a hunt on long island. I went deer hunting last year late in rifle season but was unsuccessful in the means that i didnt get a deer. I did however have an amazing time out in the woods and i think thats what its really all about. If you know of any places i can go for some good waterfowl hunting or tips and tricks on stalking methods calling etc please lemme hear em! I will investigate the southshore waterfowlers and i will get back to you with my findings!
  13. List your top 5 to 10 deer hunting locations in the Northern Zone!
  14. Hey guys just picked up a new weatherby vanguard series 2 in a 30-06 i love the rifle i was wondering if anyone felt the same so review it if you have shot it!

  16. thats interesting about the walking speed and thanks for the info on sterling elmo. I am planning on walking two and a half miles into the woods. Hopefully i dont get lost! I bring two compasses and a topographical map so i should be ok i have gotten myself out of stickier situations lol. As far as my pack i bring a first aid kit, Tons of hand warmers, extra clothing couple pairs of dry socks all wrapped in ziplock bags in my back pack. I have a contact back home that knows what time i go into the woods and what time i come out. How many feet is a good length to drag a bear? I could imagine that would get touch if i was two miles in dragging that puppy through the woods lol Could always strap it to my back and run around untill someone shoots me lolol Lemme know if you got any advice on gear and or means of extracting and hunting a bear!
  17. Hey guys i am looking to join a hunting club on long island. I am interested in hunting waterfowl deer bear pretty much everything i am becoming obsessed with hunting season!
  18. Hey guys i am new to hunting and i live in huntington on long island. I am very interested in going duck and goose hunting on long island and i was curious if anyone would be willing to take me on a goose or duck hunt for my first time. I am a good shot with a shot gun or rifle and i take it very serious i just have no one to show me the ropes. If anyone is interested in helping me out and sharing this amazing sport feel free to send me an email or message! Thanks guys!

  20. hey brother thanks again for helping to protect my family good to see a fellow grunt!
  21. welcome brother good to see another fellow long islander!
  22. Hey guys i am a former United States Marine. Me and my girlfriend currently live on long island. My girl friend is a flobotamist and i am a carpenter slash masons helper. I have gotten tired of paying to much for rent and working just to survive here. We are both interested in moving upstate but are clueless as to where to move where we can both make enough money to survive. I want to get out and be closer to nature instead of traffic and i just have no clue as to picking a place that we can both find work and yet still find an affordable place to rent and live and enjoy life with out the congestion and hustle and bustle of long island. Thanks for your time and suggestions on places to move! PS: i obviously want to be in some prime hunting territory!
