Hey guys I am new to bow hunting just passed my test with a 100! Very exited to get in a tree stand in a few weeks however I have yet to buy my bow. I am in the $800 $1000 price range for a full setup. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks again and good luck out there!

Supposedly they are blaming the largest fire in California history on a hunter! Apparently the hunter was having an illegal campfire when it got out of control.

Sent Today, 05:27 AM Hey what's up man! Welcome to the club! Well actually I am still trying to put it together. I have been doing a lot of researching out east. I was at hubbard over the weekend and I got my green key which I highly recommend u get. We can bow and slug gun hunt there this season starting in November. They also have waterfowl hunting! I have never done it but I have an old Mossberg 500 I bought years ago and I would love to get some skeet shooting in to try and see if I could even hit a duck lol. All you have to do is show up at 8 and they have their own blinds! Just throw out some decoys and start calling em in! I also bought an aluminum 18ft fishing boat that would be perfect for duck hunting! Got a lot of plans I am just looking for someone that is actually interested in doing em! None of my friends are into hunting. My father was when he was younger however its tough to find people that are into it around my age! I am totally game to get into some tree stands for bow season as I just passed my bow hunters class a few weeks ago. Hit me back and let me know what you think!

I have been hunting upstate but I really want to explore all the parks of long island and really get the most out of the land I already live in. Its cheaper for me with tolls and everything plus I really want to expand on what I hunt including waterfowl and small game.

so you can hunt turkey on long island! sweet I gotta give that a go sometime!

I haven't been there yet however I hear it is legal to bow hunt there. Making a visit this weekend to check out it.

Hey guys I am 30 years old and I live in Suffolk of long island. I have been hunting now for 3 years and I am looking to get together with a group of guys and form a hunting/fishing club. Since most of my friends are not into this wonderful sport I am looking to meet a bunch of people who can share this love of the outdoors together. Sharing hunting experiences, scouting, possible lease upstate etc. If you are interested please feel free to reply. yea everyone keeps warning me about that. I haven't hunted Suffolk before and I keep hearing about all the nasty stuff you can catch from the ticks out there. I have heard turkeys eat ticks however im not positive about that. If so they should consider releasing wild turkey in the area if it would have any kind of impact on the tick population. When applying tick repellent do you spray on your skin or all over your boots and clothes? Do they have scent proof tick repellent that the deer wont smell? I went to sterling state forest and got caught up in the pricker bush marshes and came out with about 15 different ticks crawling up my orange vest! Some of them were all black with a little red dot on them. Nasty looking little things I was flicking them out the window on the drive home!

Hey guys I am new to waterfowl hunting and I want to hunt Canadian geese in a week and I don't know where I can go on long island preferably Suffolk county to go and bag me my first goose. Are they good eating? Any cool recipes you guys got throw em my way if you don't mind I want to impress my family with a delicious goose dinner! Hey guys I got a weatherby vanguard series 2 and I haven't had much luck with the current ammo I am using which is the core loct. Has anyone tried a more efficient ammo with this rifle or could recommend some more premium ammo for me to use. Thanks rifle is in a 30-06

welcome brotha! I too came from a family that was mostly into fishing. Out of just about nowhere it crept into my veins and has become an obsession! Your going to find any information you could ever ask for on this site! The people are cool as all hell and as deerthug mentioned it really is like a brotherhood. I met friends that I go hunting with off of this site and it helps us guys meet other people who are interested in this wonderful sport. Its so funny listening to everyone bitch and moan about the summer ending. Meanwhile I have been waiting patiently as come October 1st the adventure begins all over again!!!
