  1. Yes, myself and the group of family/friends i hunt with all cut up our own deer when one of us gets one. It isnt very difficult and it is actually fun to do.. kind of a little cutting party. One season a couple years back we had seven deer to cut in one week, we cut 4 one night and 3 the next night.

  2. So you are saying Brookfield is not a campable location? It seems very large.

Anyone familiar with the location? I looked at the maps and it seems to be lots of access roads cutting through it, which for me would be bad as I want to walk some miles in and go to a spot to spend time where not many people venture

No, im not saying that at all. Im sure there are places in brookfield to camp. I've personally never hunted there so i can't say for sure.

  3. Well i finally got up to camp a couple weekends ago. Didn't change slugs but i did change my rifled sights on my fully rifled barrel. Had tru glos on there and absolutely hated them. Changed them back to the original remington ones. Should have never put the tru glos on there. Oh well, live and learn. But anyway i put the remington ones back on where i thought they should be and to my surprise the first shot out of the lead sled with no adjustment to the sights yet was dead on. I couldn't believe it because the tru glo sat much higher on the ramp than the remington one does. So i shot it free hand without the sled and it was dead on. I was very happy with this. I also suggest trying out the lead sled to whoever is thinking about getting one.

  4. Lots of good advice in that post. I have one rifle with my name in the floor plate, and a spare blank one that can be used to replace it if I ever sell the gun.

Some modest scroll work can be had on the relative low cost end of the market, once animals are involved and depending on style.......the prices climb pretty fast.

There are a few places that do laser stuff now; results I have seen are hit and miss.

There is also machine cut, but that tends to be at the manufacturing level.

Yeah i have two separate detachable mags for the gun so i'm not worried about getting something that decreases value, i also don't sell guns so value doesn't much matter to me. I was thinking about getting a remington R engraved into it with some scroll work around it because i am a die hard remington fan.

  5. I've had my iPhone 4 ever since they were released for Verizon customers. I love it. The only reason i won't upgrade to the 5 is because Verizon no longer offers unlimited data. I currently have unlimited data because i was grandfathered in. ScoutLook is definitely a great app! I use it all the time. Also i suggest getting an otterbox case if you haven't already. They're great and they even come in camo.

  6. Remington copper solid 2 3/4" are what shoot the best out of my Rem 870, hastings rifled barrel. Have shot many deer with them with excellent results. Although was at Gander Mountain yesterday and see they're $21/ box, so will be changing up this summer. Winchester partition gold shot well before, and do a great job on deer, used to be the expensive slugs, but $15 / box is doesn't look so bad anymore

    Crazy, isn't it?

I forgot to mention that I shoot 2 3/4" Brenneke KO Sabots out of my 870 with a fully rifled Hastings cantilever scope barrel. They group awesome in that gun.

Prices today are outrageous. Hornady seems to be the best deal at $11.99 at Herb Phillipsons but i will try different kinds to see what my 870 prefers, even if that means spending a little more than $12 but there is no way i will ever pay $21 for a box of slugs! hahah
