  1. Thanks guys,

i've never used the corn cob media, as I'm new to tumbling. Mine is a rotary tumbler. If you're looking into using SS media in the future id definitely recommend it. The primer pockets on these are just about spotless. I also found it cool (yet weird) that i didn't find a single piece of media inside any of the cases. You would think that the small pieces of SS would be in the brass from getting moved around so much.

Hot damn, that stuff is PURTY !!

It is one thing I have never invested in.....I embarrassed myself in a brass swap with a member on this forum, who no longer posts ..<<<WHERE THE HECK ARE YA, BUBBA ???>>>

I sent him a bunch of dirty (but functional) brass  and he swapped me back some of the cleanest brass I have ever had..

I felt kind of like a scrounge at first, but I got over it.....

    Haha thank you!

Luckily this is very easy to do as long as the brass is reusable. Just toss it in there and forget about it for three hours.

  3. Finally got to use the new tumbler I got a couple weeks ago. It's a frankford arsenal and uses stainless steel media. I threw a random assortment of brass in it consisting of 223, 243, 270, and 35 Whelen. Let it go in a solution of water, armor all wash and wax, and Lemi shine for three hours and this is how they came out. I'm very impressed with it, the brass looks brand new. a5d4d34c96d80e58f1389bbbf6b59fde.jpgf5278f6295dec75a6aa7a46211fd91e8.jpg

  4. I agree with buckmaster7600 as I'm sure many others will also, but if you want a new rifle then go for it. If you want a bolt action, detachable mag, and prefer iron sights over a scope, then a Rem 700 BDL would be perfect in my opinion. Unfortunately they only make it in four calibers right now, but you can easily find one new in box in the caliber of your choice.

  5. The factory 1in16 twist on those can hurt accuracy with the 250's but I have heard of some that love them so you'll have to try and see what she likes. When you get your dies make sure you get some Barnes 225's mine loves them!

Good to know. I'll definitely start off with the 225 grain and go from there.

  6. Thanks guys

My dream is to go on a moose hunt one day and I would love to take one with this gun. When I start reloading for it once I get the dies and some brass I think I'm going to make up different loads with 225 and 250 grain bullets just to see which it prefers and really get the full potential out of the gun like Pygmy said.

For now I'm going to sight it in with these 200 grain hornady superformances I have and go from there. I haven't heard much on the superformance ammo but I know hornady usually makes a good product.

  7. Well I added another gun to my collection.. A factory 35 Whelen 7600 carbine. I've wanted one of these for years and seeing buckmaster7600s collection just made me want one even more. This is my third 7600 and by far my favorite gun in my collection. It came with a synthetic stock but I threw some walnut on it as soon as I got it home. I'm really looking forward to shooting it.

I also have a new Remington V3 walnut coming in the next couple weeks.

Anyone have any reloading experience with the 35 Whelen or any experience shooting the cartridge? I'm looking at making up a good load for next season.

Odd... Maybe a hard to read sarcastic question ?

Could be, but i feel like he wasn't being sarcastic. Other than that he was a good guy and didn't harass us so I'm not complaining.

  9. Off topic but me and a couple other guys were shooting clays at camp once when an encon officer drove up and asked if our wood stocked 1100s were safe act compliant.... He was serious.

  10. For those who have gone the fixed mag route, how have you gone about it?  I just clicked the DD's Ranch link above and saw they sell a replacement mag release lock and an extended rear takedown pin.  Is that (potentially speaking, not asking for anyone to render a legal opinion) all I would need to modify a new lower to make it "Compliant"?
Sure would be nice to use an AR style rifle for predator hunting at night instead of a bolt gun.  However, I have no desire to share a cramped one bedroom studio with a roommate named Bubba for the next 5 years.

I fixed my mag with a locking style mag button so it can't come out and I have the extended rear take down pin. I have yet to shoot it but I don't think I'll have any problems with it. I actually like it a lot. I won't be using it for home defense so that's not really a big concern for me.

So as long as your mag is fixed .and only holds  no more then 10 rounds

You can have pistol grip on any  semi automatic rifle ?

Dont have any guns that are  assault looking like a AR or anything with a pistol grip  so just wondering whats legal now a days

As far as i know, yes, if you have a fixed mag you can have those accessories.
