I have been up there for 9 of the last 14 days chasing them with the bow and saw a bunch of deer and a couple reel nice bucks but didn't connect. Around my camp there is 10x more moose sign than deer.

Are you on the left or right side of rt 30 going toward Indian Lake? I hear of a lot of moose crossing there near the pig rock near perkins clearing. A couple years back one of the guys in our camp found a huge moose rub.

Town of Morehouse (about 20 mile West of the village)

Great area, been hunting there for years and finally we built an off the grid cabin up there for the family..I also am from Saratoga County !!

I usually go up route 8 to get to Speculator and have seen some big deer hanging at a camp on the left side of the road headed north. Maybe you've seen it before.

I don't know if the mag would cause failures to eject but those plastic mags are totally junk!

I don't want to be redundant but Remington has ruined a lot over the last 10-15 years and this another to the list.

The metal mags are getting pricey! I have saw them at guns shows for north of 50$ actually I bought 2 at the last guns show I was at for 95$ but 1 was 35 rem and the other 300sav.

When you are shopping for the metal mag any short action cartridge marking will work as long as it's the same family, 243,260,7mm-08,308 all take the same clip. The mag for a 740-7400 also will work it will just not let you lock the slide forward after the clip is empty. .

Very good to know. I also have a model 750 (which they recently discontinued) with the junk mag but I have some metal 7400 mags for it. I did not know they would work in a 7600. Thank you!

Yup it has a black plastic cap on the bottom

I would be willing to bet that's where your problem is. The newer style mags with the plastic on the bottom are junk. If you can find the older style from a 760 or an early 7600 they might solve your problem. They're all metal. That's what I use in mine and they work flawlessly. I just keep the plastic ones as spares.

I have a 7600 weathermaster which is synthetic stock and stainless and it's my favorite gun however mine is ammo sensitive, have problems consistently ejecting certain brands of ammo brought it to a gunsmith and he says he can't find nothing wrong. It ejects Remington core-loks just fine so I stay with them

That's my all time favorite gun Remington produced. Does it have a magazine with the plastic on the bottom?

I'm trying to find the synthetic carbine but looks like everyone is sold out or maybe remington stopped making that version.

They do still make the synthetic version. If you end up getting a wood stock one id be willing to sell you my synthetic stock if you really want synthetic.

Shocker.  Newer Remington's rusting. My newish 870 gets surface rust if there's a chance of rain. Constantly wiping it down with oil

Try bore butter, it works. Just rub it into the receiver and other spots that rust and you won't have that problem again.

  8. I have two 7600s, one is a 22" 270 and the other is a 30-06 carbine. Also have a 760 30-06 carbine. Favorite guns in my collection. No cons to speak of. The matte bluing will rust if you don't have a humidifier in your cabinet but it comes off with a little rem oil. To avoid this i use bore butter on my receiver. Haven't had a problem since. You CAN still get a regular blued receiver instead of the matte bluing. The regular bluing looks nicer in my opinion.. these guns used to come in many different calibers however now its just the usual 243, 308, 270, and 30-06.

  9. Just curious is that a smokeless ML? I don't follow ML's very closely and have been throwing around the idea of a smokeless one.

No, you cannot shoot smokeless powder out of it. Only black powder substitute.

  10. Thanks guys, I will definitely report when i site it in. I myself also like blued finish guns and have plenty of them but this was my first gun with a stainless barrel and i like the look of silver scopes on stainless barrels more than a matte black set up. I'm seriously considering carrying this gun all next season.

  11. A while back i posted a thread asking who makes a nice silver scope. I ended up springing for the Leupold vx-2 and so far i love it. Just put it on tonight so i have yet to use it, but here it is on my Remington Ultimate ML. It's mounted on Leupold dual dovetails.

  12. Good valid statements here guys. Now my next question for you guys without see throughs would be what scopes are you using at what power? I have 3-9x40s on everything except my 223 which has a 4-12 but I've been tossing around the idea of putting a fixed 4 power on my new 7600 in .270.

  13. Does anyone here use them? On other forums I've been on people absolutely despise them for some reason. I've always used them on my "thick cover" guns like my 760s and 750 and don't plan on changing unless theres a very good reason to. I understand that the closer the scope is to the barrel, the more accurate it is, however i do like being able to use the rifle sights OR the scope.
