  1. That just made me laugh out loud sitting here all alone at my desk! Way to funny!!!
  2. The best part is that the Gerber is only $15 at Gander Mountain. It is funny that this came up. Yesterday i got home from work to a call from a buddy, "Buck Down- come help!" I brought my knives with me and he had never seen the E-Z-Zip. I opened up the deer for him with it and he was so impressed. After we got it our of the woods and hung up, he ran right down to Gander to buy the Gerber. Said he had never seen a deer field dressed so quickly and easily before.
  3. As far as knives go, I use the following: The Buck Woodsman with its narrow blade is great for cutting around the anus and then later cleaning up the inside of the body cavity. It handles well, and I have a lot of controll of the blade with its smaller size. I find the larger "hunting" knives can be unwieldy, Besides, I'm not field dressing moose! http://www.buckknive...&productID=3037 I also use the Buck to make a small slit just below the breast bone between the rib cage so I can fit the E-Z Zip in and open them up for gutting. http://www.gerbergea.../E-Z-Zip_459242 This is by far one of the best items I have ever purchased for dressing game. It literally "unzips" the animal with ease, and I have never nicked any of the organs using it. The best part is, the blade is replaceable, and it uses standard utility knife blades. Hope you find this helpful.
  4. What did she dress out at? I killed a big doe in the Adirondacks a couple of years ago with the muzzleloader that looked like her. Dressed out at 168lbs. Just curious...
  5. At 10-50 yards I would hope so! LOL! Seriously though, I have heard nothing but good about the H&R Slug guns.
  6. I would say that, yes, according to the law, this would be considered baiting. I would set up on the thickest edge of said oak stand, about 20-30 yards off into the thick stuff in the hopes of catching a buck crusing by to check for hot does at the food source.
  7. Put some meat in the freezer last night. Had a what I thought was a doe stroll in just before dark, watched her for about 5 minutes. Wind was at my face all watch long but then began to swirl around, so I took the shot. After the smoke cleared watched the deer run off all hunched down then saw it drop about 30 yards away. As I was reloading my muzzleloader, another doe was walking through an opening about 10 yards beyond where I had shot the other one. She was about the same size as the first, but of course I let her walk. Gave the deer a few minutes and then got down to retreive it. Turned out to be a button buck around 100lbs. Made a good shot - took the top of the heart right off. Now I can focus on the bucks.
  8. Thanks! Maybe I should have put WAY Upstate. LOL! Only about 60 miles south of Montreal.
  9. Hello Everyone! Been lurking around for a while, decided to join. I hunt mostly in the Clinton County area these days. Until last year, I was a member of a club in the Tupper Lake area for about 7 years. This looks like a great site, and I really enjoy reading everyones posts and seeing their pics.
  10. Hello Everyone! Just read through this entire thread and decided to join. Only saw a few deer with the bow this season, but nothing in range. Sat all weekend with the smoke pole, no deer, but I did shoot a nice coyote on Sunday afternoon up at my buddys camp. She cam in at around 5:40pm. Can't wait to get home tonight and head out behind the house. 3 deer on the trail cam Sunday night while I was not there! Isn't that how it always goes! LOL!
