Canned meat? Yikes. Venison is the only meat I’m forced to freeze. Defrosting is gross enough, I can’t imagine opening a can of meat/spam/chicken. Sorry nomad!

I ate a lot of canned veggies as a kid. Unless I lose my job, I’m never going back to that life. I think pumpkin purée is the only canned thing I’ve bought in the last 15 years

However the tendons, sinew and other gross bits found within certain cuts (not in backstrap hence any cut for the hind quarter being as good is a silly comment ) are inedible even after running through a pre-chewing machine.

I'm gonna need you to look at those hind quarter cuts again in the provided picture and circle anything that isnt pure venison.

That’s false. I get backstraps and paper thin cutlets. Both I grill hot and fast with salt and pepper. No need for butter or a pan. Medium rare. I’ve never had tough venison. I trim the hell out of it before grilling

The rest gets chunked boneless and turned into tasty snack stix, etc. Used to eat stew meat as a kid but don’t care for hot soup type foods.

Exactly ,there is no such thing as tough venison . Some members must have had beef cube steaks  and confused them with venison.

Oh my lord are you concussed? Drunk?

Cube steaks.....jeeze thats for tough, cheap meat and makes it better with ketchup!!

Shoot more deer so you have good cuts and make sausage, jerky and what not outa those cuts......

Chef, Biz I'm with you guys!!

    lol

You could always learn how to cook better.  Its venison,if its too tough you have nobody to blame but the person who cooked it too long. Biz wouldnt know what the best cuts are ,he leaves everything but the back straps at the butcher.

Agreed, I go crazy when I cant see 360° but it would be nice to have a spot to eat a sandwich and warm up and still be "in the game". Assuming its spider free obviously

I'm sitting in one of those 2 boxes on the lease this year with a heater AND the spiders! I'll let the weather dictate the date.

In NY, if you're walking out of the woods after legal hunting hrs with a arrow nocked, your breaking the law. You are technically hunting after legal hrs.

Yrs ago I had a local warden give me a hard time because I came out of the woods well after legal.  My stand was several hundred yard away, and a swampy area to navigate.

He was getting ready to write up a ticket when I asked him if he seen me with a arrow nocked? He admitted he hadn't, and I said I could walk around till midnight as long as I don't knock a arrow. He reluctantly backed down and said I need to be out of the woods by legal.  I challenged him again, saying I'll see you here tomorrow evening same time, and I guarantee you won't be giving me a ticket, because I do not need to be out of the woods by legal, just not hunting.

I'm surprised he backed down ,they're always such pricks about every little detail.

That’s me! I treat it like a loaded gun, which is loaded at the vehicle. Always pointed in a safe direction. I’m 100% nocked during legal shooting times. No reason not to be. In the dark if I have to get down a steep hill sitting on my butt or incline where I need my hands to climb I won’t nock. But If it’s a 100-200yd easy walk in, I’m nocked. Less sound and movement when I arrive at my spot.

Do you unscrew the broadhead like you do the choke tube?

does it distinguish by homicide and suicide? Anti-gun people always love to include suicide in their numbers. Like yeah guns the easy way out so they take it if they can, but if they want to end their life, they'll find a way. Problem is, cause of death is never suicide, it's overdose, jumping, gun etc.

its a great way to push a narrative.

I don't know the official term, but I did notice a nearly full moon on my way out last night. That's never good for evening action in my book, even with cooler temps. Sure enough cams were popping around 10pm and again 4am.

I never see deer after full or nearly full moons.

It amazes me that there are hunters out there who have hunted for years and never butchered a deer themselves.  From the sounds of it some wouldn't even know where to start.  The only way you will ever know if the deer you are eating is the one that you put down is if you butcher it yourself.  The drop off deer processors can claim that you are getting back your own deer all they want.  One really has no way of proving if they are telling the truth or not.

I would love to do it myself . I don't have the room to set up an area to do it though . I've seen plenty of pictures on this site of people who cut their deer meat in to chunks or grind, that does not make someone a butcher .

I bet a "food truck" mentality could make that work. Post where you will be located (where you know there is a need-in 3S there is a big need especially with all the city hunters and very few butchers) on some social media and they still come to you. If they want door to door service they need to pay the premium- many will I bet for the convenience considering how lazy "we" are these days.

I would absolutely pay extra for someone to come to me and then deliver the finished cuts

Is that how it works or do they finish it on site and then leave?

It just seems like you would have to charge double to make a profit, between gas and drive times . I could understand paying more for convenience.  You could end up spending a boat load on gas if you have to bounce all over.
