Well the case needs to be fireproof too.. so its a stupid law regardless.

Just dont leave it unattended in your car/truck and you are fine.

There's a funny meme where someone put a photoshopped 16 gun safe in their pickup cab. But yeah I think I saw somewhere where they sort of backpeddled and said hard sided.

At the end of the day no matter the law your gun should probably be out of site anyhow and if it's out of site you should be ok. This gets more challenging at a gas station or check point if you've clearly been out or are going out hunting during deer season. But if you're IN your truck, as others have noted you're fine.

Honestly the only gotcha here is the restaurant or gas station and you guys really need to stop eating and fueling up in your hunting clothes anyhow haha.

I agree with the other guys, I don't see 150, I've killed a few real big does and they were in the 130's dressed. Pics can be hard to judge though. Still a real big doe in the 30's!

I've also found that guessed weight depends on how you drag them out. The harder the drag, the more you predict they will weigh haha.

Well yesterday was a day to remember. Cut his track around 7 he had a haram of does on the top of the mountain and every so often he’d go up and pester another. Problem was there was so many tracks up there that it made it very slow to figure out what one was his. Luckily in the 6 miles of tracking him he really never went anywhere and finally found a receptive doe. I ended up killing him at 15ft.

Looks like snow in Maine next week so I’m going to try and continue this amazing season and hopefully be home on time for a turkey dinner.

15' or 15 yards? That's a great buck. Love hearing your hunting stories.

I have no idea what you're talking about little mayor man......lol Do you?

I know you are always right. Right? And you get your wood from confrontation. Right?

So you start going off on anyone who still posts here. Because you want members to stay here and make this a better place. Right?

    Makes perfect sense. Right?

Maybe you should take the wood and rub it till it burns. Right?

I have to admit, it takes a special kind if you can get grampy fired up.

Exactly. But to bitch about this site being terrible and then using this sites Pm to try and get people to jump ship should result in an instant ban. Can’t figure why you few that bitch about this place want to continue to post on here?  Obviously nobody here cares that you all left and nobody new can come on this site remember.                        And FYI for the post over there that you and the cook forced to be locked up says it all. Mods locking down something because of a conversation. Even if you both were full of shit on that post. You want to listen to science coming from the people that are sucking millions from the Govt to continue to research something that obviously after 60 years has done no harm. You want me to listen to your research?  Show me the real life damage!  You can’t and you never will… Period!  As far as the crap your blowing on the hunt I was going to make a fool out of the cook with, if you think for a minute I would follow thru with that with no cash at the gate after the guy himself asked what would happen if he shot the wrong deer!!!  Worried about killing a wrong animal in a controlled environment to that level?  Ya only an idiot would let the kind of so called Hunter into an environment with animals that bring 20 grand plus.               Yet they still locked it just because of a conversation. Ya that’s the kind of environment I want to be around.    And take a look at all the new names now posting on this site now that that group is out of here.  You don’t think there was a reason some would not post the way a group of them attacked together.

thanks for confirming you were who I thought you were and then not being man enough to admit it. chef said he would hand cash at the gate, just not to you or the owner, but a 3rd party. The ball is still in your court bud.

If you like it so much here why'd you create an account over there?

Finally, I don't necessarily think anyone anymore is trying to get anyone to go anywhere. But if buckmaster or other members want that info, providing it privately is different than whispering "hey candy over here, come join us".

Good luck during your gun season. It's still amazing to me that you and I got along for a good 10 years. I never once attacked your business or your hunting like many others did. Then at the slightest mention of CWD you go ballistic with your science denying, antlers rule the world borderline personal attacks and we're all the sudden enemies. That's sad man, really it is.

I think we've both said all we need to and again, good luck in letchworth this weekend.

That was nice of you to rag on me just for asking a question about posting videos  on the  political  thread  on the other site  it was just a question and you blow up on me .

Thanks  for the warm welcome over there but i  think i will¹ be spending most my time here happy hunting guy .

If you think that was a blow up, you live a sheltered life. I responded to you because the overwhelming majority who left are overwhelmingly happy we don't see hunting and fishing cluttered up with politics. You have this space here to post all the youtube conspiracy videos and misspelled incoherent thoughts here. Why would you feel the need to bring it there? Honest question.

Listen, right wrong or indifferent, if I catch anyone recruiting members through PMs, Ill ban that person. I dont care what anyones opinion of that is, its how things are going to be unless burmjohn asks me not to do it. We are also not going to constantly repeat the same threads bagging on this site. If you dont want to be on this site, then go away and leave things here alone. We are all adults, act as such.

sorry i shouldn't have worded it that way. Just responding to the fact that we're all free american's. You and I are on the same page with regards to advertising.

Exactly. And look at all the new names posting here now. They didn’t like the pack mentality that the group that left had. Like they were better then most and half of them are pretty uneducated even in the hunting world.

lol like who? You can't even make a new account. There hasn't been a new member since like February lol.

  9. 1 hour ago, Four Seasons said:

No they just keep a watch on here and then use the Pm on this site to tell them about the other. Not really see where they get their jollies just pulling people off here. But then the same idiots come back and say they want to post on this site also. Shows what their working with upstairs

nobody is forcing anyone to go anywhere. you can do what you want with the info you get sent in a pm. We're all adults right?

  10. I think too many here are missing why the other site was started. We've been bitching about things like t-shirts and politics for years and yet it didn't change the participation for a lot of us at all.

The nail in the coffin for me was when cynthia couldn't log in and we all found out that new users can't join this site and existing ones couldn't reset passwords. Even if burm is indeed paying the bills, eventually all the active members will die and the site with it. There's zero ability to recruit new members here. How can that not be seen as an issue for some of you?

I belonged to an old and dying car forum but a group of us similar in size to this one hung out in the off topic section for years just shooting the shit until one day we tried to log on and poof it was gone. To not think that might or probably will happen here is extremely naïve.

I'll double down and note that several tried to buy this site just to keep it alive to no avail.

If this is a safer space for some to freely post their politics and see less clutter, that's fair and I'll still probably pop in here and there as some good guys are still left here. I can't say I give a flying flock what's in your smoker either, but some like that and it's harmless. With regards to friends and the amount of posting... some of us have computer day jobs and need the equivalent of a smoke break. That's all it is, you'll hardly ever catch me posting at night or weekends.

The most hilarious thing though is that a certain member very clearly made an account over there and his first posts were in a section making fun of said member, yet here he is talking sh!t about members who are still here and talking sh!t over there lol.

It wasn’t him, it’s me. If you all want to go on another forum, that’s fine, but you aren’t going to use this one to steer traffic to it. That’s stepping over the line. Regardless of some people’s feelings about this site, I’m going to moderate it as best I can.

I’ve been frustrated by how things have gone the last couple of years too, but I’m sticking with this ship and seeing if there’s any turning it around. If not, that’s fine too, but I’m not going to act like an insolent child on my way out either.

Totally fair, it wasn't personal. sorry that some are acting childish. For me, the members made the site so trying to keep the band together is fair and I wouldn't say childish. Also totally fair for a mod to do his "job" too.

Having run a few message boards I can say there is actually known message board etiquette rules, one is "never go on someone else's board  and publicly mine it to lure members to another board", was always a banning offense.

Malcontent members now have a new board setup the way the way they always wanted, so leave here on a good note quit the banter and use your new home.

    Al

Having run those boards did you ever take people's money for merchandise and not deliver it?

Did you ever turn off the ability for new members to join for 9 months and counting?

Did you make it so current members couldn't recover a password?

Did you leave the home page not updated for 3 years?

  13. Another shower just came through.  Archery equipment is getting a good wash today. Still no bucks seen this morning.

Good luck. The rain is what kept me out. I don’t mind cold, wind or warm, but archery hunting in the rain just kinda sucks. And in real heavy rains can be risky with anything but a great shot and blood tracking. In 8F it’s slowed down and I’d call it safe hunting, just a pain lol.

  14. I'm sure they will do a lot more in the cooler night temps. But to say it shuts off completely, like some people say is wrong. Buck catches scent of a doe he is investigating. I shouldn't of said they don't care. Looks like we have some good hunting coming up, good luck!

We’re on the same page. Good luck to you too!

  15. Exactly. It’s all about the amount and time of daylight in their eyes. A poor hunter will base their rut judgements on the youngest of the species and that’s the  poorest measuring stick. That show will go on but the mature breeders in the herds tell the true story.

Again, I’m not saying that bucks aren’t rutting. I’m saying that their activity is affected. To completely discount the affect that record heat has on buck activity is moronic, even you know that. How much does it affect them is up for debate sure.

This isn’t some wild opinion Belo holds

Argue with biologists and experts if you want, we know that’s your MO. Somehow the deer industry is paying these guys to tell you deer move more at night when it’s warm to get more research dollars.
