Beretta Extrema II... You can not go wrong with it. This gun has seen all kinds of action from salt water to mud hasn't skipped a beat yet. I have been hunting w/ it for the past 6 years, I have seen those SBE's more then once not cylcle a high brass round.

Back in the day in college I took an Animal Rights Debate class... interesting none the less. If you ever want to see how these people tick this is the place to be I learned a ton.

Planting BUCKWHEAT? For a Food plot.
thetrick replied to Landowner's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I would also have to say cereal rye as well... we are not to far from a frost and I would say buckwheat will not mature before the 1st frost. Rye can take the frost/freeze long as the seed has germenated the deer will eat it well into the winter/early spring. If you would get buckwheat to germinate and mature the 1st freeze/frost would kill it and be no value to your food plot. -
Lime or Fertilize in the fall?
thetrick replied to Landowner's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Remember feed the soil do not feed the plants... Maintain the soil nutrients for what the soil test calls for. By following a soil test you will be doing two things; one not exceeding an overload of nutrients that will later just run off or leach into the environment. Second you will be applying nutrients exactly what your soil needs to maintain proper plant health threw out the growing season. -
Lime or Fertilize in the fall?
thetrick replied to Landowner's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Do not go in it blind get a soil test and see what you need for nutrients... If it calls for lime, N, P, K, or Micros then make sure you apply then between now and mid fall before microbes in the soil shut down due to cold temps. -

Merit works very well on the ash trees... my father has used it in Ohio for five years on 2 ash trees in his yard. Its all about timing of applications... -
I grew up on the western basin of Lake Erie in Ohio and have done a lot of smallmouth fishing. This time of year is hot on the reefs and near the islands...

When I was young I remember when Ohio tried to introduce dove hunting via the DNR and they lost the fight due to animal right groups. A year later the sportsmen groups in Ohio put it on the ballot and won... Knowing how tough animal right groups are here in NYS it will be a bigger fight to get it here. I would like to have dove hunting here in NYS it is a great way to introduce young hunters into hunting. I agree they are great tasting and a challenge to shoot...

It wasn't long ago that there wasn't an early season... as a traditional waterfowler early season it is no big deal to me. They will never kill all these geese off they have been doing it for a long time. Shooting geese in 80 degree heat is not my bag... bring on the migrators something w/ a challange. The reason the seasons in Oct., Nov., and Dec. have a more regulated bag limit is that these geese pass threw Canada all the way to DelMarVa. They get extreme hunting pressure in the Alantic Flyway w/ only so many geese to go around. Some counties in downstate and southerntier have a March season...

The geese that you are referring to are the geese that are unhuntable in populated state parks, play grounds, lakes, sport complexes, golf courses, etc... they are to close to urban or suburban areas to hunt. These are not geese in the Atlantic Flyway, they are all nuisance local geese that create problems in such areas.
