Good info, NYDeer.... I'm sure that garand owners who do not reload can make good use of this..
-
Good luck, Joe... I know you'll be able to enjoy your hunting for what it IS.. Rather than worrying yourself sick about what the OTHER person is doing, as some people on this forum seem to prefer to do..

Sighted in my 30-06 yesterday. Who else is ready for next weekend?
Pygmy replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Opening day I'll be using my 7MM-08 Mountain rifle... Second day, I'll be in different stand and will probably be carrying my M-1 garand.. After that, who knows..?.. Perhaps my M 70Win in .280Rem. if i anticipate a longer shot.. -
Hehehehe.. Well, I'm glad to see that nothing has changed... Good luck this year.. I hope you enjoy your hunting and fill the freezer. Keep your eyes peeled.. We all know that EVERYBODY, including the law enforcement guys, are out to GET you.

Hey, Girlfriend...!! Good to hear from you, since you were the one that started this thread..
-
Thanks, Burmjohn... I think most of us would rather not see the site become too structured, but this guy was over the line, first with his threats and then when his alter ego began spouting obscenities. Don't agoniize too much about making changes.. In my opinion it is to your credit that this guy was the first one you had to ban.. Keep up the good work..Thanks again..

Nice language on a family site... Any moderator intervention to get this Goober off here ?
-
Say, Buck Buck....Seems like your ally is about as bright and mature as you are... Perhaps you are the same person.....
-
No doubt, BuckBuck... You are doing better than all of us... As I have already said, I concede to your superior intellect... Not to mention the fact that your chest beating and threats have really frightened me.. You are so big and strong and tough, and I'm just a ricketty old man..<<sigh>>.. I've tried not to use too many big, multi-syllable words words here, because I don't want to confuse you.. I think it's time for my NAP...
-
My sentiments exactly, WNY... Never argue with an idiot. He'll bring you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

However, the road IS a public road...??.. So you are threatening people with physical harm for driving up a PUBLIC road doing something that is LEGAL..??.. Do you realize that this is a public forum and that people who are involved in law enforcement participate in this forum ..??.. DANG, Junior Boy... You are even more of a genius than I THOUGHT you were..!.. Okay..You win..I give up...Not only am I SCARED, but I have to admit you have outsmarted me... I'm going to bed, now, if I can only get that durn nurse to bring my walker..

Doc..The deer's rear end damage was defintily the result of a canine attack.. May have been a domestic dog or a coyote.. I would guess a dog..I suspect a coyote would have pressed the attack and there would have been much more damage done.. Just my opinion based on seeing the result of several canid attacks on deer and domestic animals..
-
Ok, tough guy.... Exactly how are you going to deal with these people who are exercising thier legal rights from a public thorofare..??.. I'm looking forward to your answer....
-
.....<<YAWN>>......

I'm tempted to reply to BUCK BUCK again, but I'm afraid it would be a waste of some perfectly good sarcasm... There might be a connection here though.. Could BUCK BUCK be Growalot's SON...??.. Naw..I won't go there.. I refuse to engage in character assassination... Forget I said that..I think it's time for my nap...

I have always hoisted my firearm up muzzle first, with a simple line around the sling on the forearm.. It is always unloaded and action open.. It still bothers me that it comes up muzzle first, but it IS empty, and there is minimal chance that the muzzle can be plugged.. This system is OK and I like it if the firearm is a muzzleloader. With the MZ, the primer or cap is removed, but there is still a charge in the barrel, which makes me uncomfortable, even if the firearm is considered unloaded without being primed.

Sorry... I didn't realize that you were such an articulate and important young fellow.. Good luck in your hunting and I hope that no one casts any evil light beams over your property..
-
A whole 22 years old ? I have SOCKS older than you....LOL.. Seriously, though... I mean no offense.. I was 22 once myself, YEARS ago...I was serving my country at the time, during the Vietnam War. What are you doing now ? I am what many of the folks on this forum call a LOCAL.. I live and have always lived in a rural area with good hunting, and have had lots of access to prime hunting ground, both on my property and on other properties that I have permission to hunt on. Yes, I know that poachers use spotlights at times.. However, many of my friends and neighbors enjoy going out and spotlighting deer for recreation.. It is LEGAL, as long as you don't have a firearm in the vehicle, etc.etc. I'm sorry that that everyone you know that spotlights deer are poachers. I suggest that you report them to the authorities.. No offense...
-
I guess you must hang around with the wrong crowd, young feller.. There have always been poachers, and they operate both day and night.. But you are WAY out of line assuming that anyone who casts a light beam at night is a poacher.. I know many fine folks who enjoy driving around at night looking at deer, with no ulterior motives.. They may see a big buck in any given spot, but the next morning they will be back hunting wherever they have permission, or on public land or whatever.. I admit that spotlights have been a tool of poachers, but to suggest that all spotlighters ( or even a majority of them) are poachers is inaccurate.
-
Ok Tim, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.... AS I have said, I don't have any interest in spotlighting and have never even OWNED one. But I support a citizen's right to do it, as long as it is legal . I know a lot of people who enjoy driving around at night looking at deer and I can see no harm in it, as long as they are obeying the game laws.
-
Ok Tim... I'll grant you your right to your opinion...However I have my opinion also. How many acres of land do you own ?? I have owned several hundred acres of prime hunting land in my lifetime, and paid many thousands of dollars property tax and never felt "violated" because someone drove down the road and shined a light over it to look at deer.. Where the hell does that mentality come from ??? As long as they aren't stopping and SHOOTING the deer, what is the problem..?..
-
Hmmm.. What does this have to do with spotlightng, Growalot..?? I don't see the connection... Seems like most door kick-ins of hunting camps would take place in the winter, or sometime when they least likely to be occupied.. Is there a crime wave in your area..?? Seems like the State Troopers or Sherrif's dept should be aware of that..
-
If those pictures are unaltered, that is a very big bobcat and a small deer.. If everything is authentic, I think he's big enough to take down a deer that size. However I think chances are that the deer died from other causes and the cat is taking advantage of a free meal..
-
Well, neither do I... However, as long as it is legal I support a law abiding citizen's RIGHT to do it, without being harrassed by some overzealous moron who just happens to own the land that the terrible, offending light beams are passing over.

I came to the conclusion long ago that your best approach is to MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. If you go meddling in other people's affairs ( pun intended) you will probably not affect the eventual outcome, and you will nearly always end up losing a friend.
