I think I’ve been bamboozled into thinking the muzzleloader season is this great time in the woods where the deer are everywhere hearded up in massive groups just making there way though unpressured woods with out a care in the world.

    LIES I TELL YOU LIES!!!!

today was no different than the last 3,485 days spent in the woods!!! 5 hours in the woods and only one injured deer seen.

Now if y’all don’t mind I’m off to pick up what little pride I have left.

    Cabin fever ,

you gave it heck buddy ! And what a wonderful thing to do for your son.
I was off today , didht go and off Saturday and Sunday and not going. Have Tuesday morning that I’ll go. Couple days between 26th and New Years. One being my birthday and daughter and I will share my ml on the 29th.

Thanks. He'll have ML for next year, even if I have to buy him one myself! LOL He's a great kid, always has been. He's the only one that I know that hunts even MORE than I do!! I rolled the dice and got him a lifetime hunting and bowhunting license when he was 2 years old for $375. At 26, he's gotten my money's worth already!!

Good luck to you and Samantha!!

  3. Bittersweet end to my season. After my hunt this morning, I met up with my son for breakfast. Since last fall, he's been wanting to get a ML, but was saving every nickel for his wedding this past Sept and didn't do it. He told me he was bummed as he wasn't ready for his season to end yet and wished he had gotten a ML. I felt bad and told him I was getting burned out anyways, so to just get a ML license today, and he could hunt with mine for the rest of the season. So, I'm officially pulling the plug on my season after 72 hunts. Oh well. I was looking forward to the holiday hunt this year, since I'm on vacation now until Jan. 3rd myself! UGH! YES, I could still take out my bow, but I don't have a chance in hell of seeing a buck within bow range at this point. In addition, I checked 11 cams today and there were NO pics with daylight activity and only 1 scrubby little buck. Oh well... Where he's hunting, he'll have a better chance at putting meat in the freezer anyways.

    Good luck everyone!

only one ive killed during muzzle was a shed buck i thought was a doe.  And 3 minutes later saw one of the top 3 bucks ive ever seen in the woods but no shot.  Also years ago had a nice 8 trailing 3 does and couldnt get a shot at it

NOW ya tell me!! LOL  Won't be shooting does if I do see any. Sounds like bucks are even tougher to come by for everyone during ML season. Glad I don't have high any expectations, so I won't be disappointed.

I have 5 or 6 claw slings. My son borrowed  my encore in 270  for a couple of seasons. He bought his own rifle . Looked at the claw I told him to get . Instead bought a pretty camo Cordura leather job . First week he came and asked if I would swap  for a claw.  I told him he could borrow one until he picked up his own . Reminded him that dear old dad strongly suggested  not to waste money buying any thing other than a claw .

I have one of those sons too!! LOL  But, I wouldn't trade him for anything!

  6. There's another topic out there somewhere about this issue. Been having the same issue for a very long time using Tapatalk. When I click on Messages, it says I have no messages, even though I got a notification that I had one. I have to choose Notifications in the very bottom right, then select the notification that I got saying I have a PM to view it.

I sent the HuntingNY Admin a message months ago asking him if there was anything he could do about this, but never heard anything back.
