Does shooting with or without the ramrod change the POI?
I don't know the answer to this. I take mine out when I get to the stand and screw on the bullet starter, so it's less I need to screw with if I need a second shot. PLUS, I have a nice new palm saver on the end of the ramrod, that I would like to keep looking nice for as long as possible...

It’s nice to be able to Christmas shop for myself while in the tree stand! Thank you Amazon! I’ll act surprised when I open my claw rifle sling on Christmas! LOL And I’ll have it just in time for the holiday hunt! NICE!!

After my morning hunt, I was reminded how much I hate my sling! This sling slides all over on my shoulder and if I’m not careful, the gun will slide upside down! I planned to get one of those “claw” slings before this season, but forgot! UGH!!

Put some fresh batteries in a couple of cams on my way in. A bit breezy, but can’t complain! Sitting in the stand where the bucks I posted above have been patrolling for does at night. Hope something will make a mistake and come through during the day!

Saw lots of downed trees on my walk this morning too! I'll be busy with the chainsaw this winter!
-
Took a nice long walk around the property. Never saw a tail. Saw enough tracks to keep me motivated though. Checked 10 cams, but only had 3 pics with daylight activity in the past week and that was of single does. UGH!!
On the positive side, I got pics of a nice buck that hasn't been around for several weeks now. He was checking out a mock scrape 15 yards from a stand. Looks like he and the smaller 8pt were trying to trail a doe too. I have pics of the smaller 8pt yesterday morning just before daylight and it looks like he was chasing a doe.
THIS is what keeps me going throughout the season. Even though the deer are mainly moving at night, I KNOW the deer are around, and it just takes something (doe, coyote, hunger, etc...) to get them up and moving during the day for me to see them.
I'll be back out later this afternoon!

Still pretty windy here. I have a meeting at 8:00, then plan to still hunt around part of the property mid-morning to see if I can find any fresh sign.

He switched to all thermal a couple years ago and he says that has made a big difference also.
I plan to use a cell cam also. I would love to have a thermal scope, but just can't justify spending the $ on one. Maybe if I could find a used cheapo scope. I'll use the red lights to start with to see how it goes first.

The tree damage inside the woods is insane. We are going to be cleaning up for YEARS from this storm. Thankfully we only spotted one tree stand the was ripped down.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI saw the same! One tree fell against the tree my stand is in, but thankfully got hung up in the crotch of the tree. I stood in the stand tonight with the fallen tree ~1 foot from my head, thinking if I was in the stand when it fell, I probably would have jumped out thinking it was going to hit me. Saw other trees just twisted off! It's a mess out there!

No coyotes showing up yet at the bait pile. Just a couple of red fox.

Climbing down. Going to pull cams and throw in the towel . Doubtful I’ll give ML season a whirl. Good luck y’all and see you around May 1
Come on Jay! You had a beauty of a buck on cam recently and he's waiting for you!! Take a couple days off and recharge.

Nothing... A little disappointed, but still have muzzleloader to look forward to. I guess the one good thing about not shooting a buck with my bow is that now I have a buck tag for muzzleloader. Trying to find the bright side of a sucky bow season, I guess.

Not looking good for seeing that wounded doe tonight. I was hoping to see her, before a coyote got her.

Never seen them so cheap before! Not sure we have any ShopRites around here, but I’ll look into it!

Surprisingly, I haven’t heard a shot all day! Thought for sure they would move today after that wind storm yesterday and all last night!

Thought I’d break out the ML a little early! Saw a gobbler and 4 hens as I got into the stand. Already saw more than I was expecting to! LOL
My son is hunting about 10 miles away. He just texted and said he saw several scrapes that have been opened up in the past 2 days! Encouraging!
I am NOT digging the tree that fell against the tree my stand is in!! Looks like it’s pinned by a limb from my tree, so hopefully it STAYS THERE!!

Stake it down if possible they'll try to drag it away.
Oh yeah, I'll be staking or securing it in another way for sure!

Sorry for your loss.

Who's venturing out tomorrow for the last day? Sounds like it's still supposed to be windy, just not as bad. I'll go out, but not sure if it'll be a morning and evening or just one hunt.

Didn't see anything at all today... but hey, I'm use to it! Heard one shot about a mile or so away.
