He found him! Saw his buck laying down with his head up right on the path he walks back home to. So he just stood there from a distance and watched him. Said the buck got up at least 10 times and would stumble a couple yards and lay back down for a while. He calls me to tell me this and I tell him I'll be there in half an hour. Said as soon as he hung up the phone the buck put his head down, kicked around a little and died. When i get down there I'm trying to walk as quietly as I can and he yells to me "it's ok, he's f'n dead" Straight up gut shot. Had to toss the tenderloins and ribs but everything else is perfectly fine. 120lb spike. So happy for him. He's been struggling these past few seasonsFather in law just shot a spike and I'm stuck at work. He thinks he gut shot it so I told him to back out. Hopefully I get out of work early enough to help. Don't want to wait too long in this heat

Father in law just shot a spike and I'm stuck at work. He thinks he gut shot it so I told him to back out. Hopefully I get out of work early enough to help. Don't want to wait too long in this heat

The answer was not to rattle. Barely caught a glimpse through the trees of 2 does (maybe fawns) feeding in the field... 15 minutes later see them again further away and headed away from me. Figured I'd hit the rattles a little and hope they had a buck nearby. Hit them together a couple times and see 2 flags go up and high tail it directly away from me. Thought they would either come to it or ignore it all together. Didn't expect to spook them like thatTo rattle or not to rattle

Got a pic just like that with a deer and a foxThe fog was so thick in 8H! I could hear grunting but couldn’t see 25 yards. Too bad as there seemed to be a lot of movement. I did have a coyote trot past at about 15 yards.

Had a buck run by here at 9am yesterday. That's a good sign. Also had an owl come say hello right at sunrise. Nice morning so far. I'll be here all day unless me or my father in law shoots something. Might check cams midday. Have fun out there!

Wife's first buck went down in 30 yards with her 243. 25 yard shot though. Doe was shot by me with the crossbow

Clean miss beats a bad shot every time... don't ask me how I know!What a fantastic hunt this afternoon. Until I missed... Had 8 doe and fawn coming walking by at 15y. Finally a nice 8pt followed. Have no clue what happened, but my arrow hit 5' to his left. He then proceeded to walk over and snif my green lighted knock. Got a second arrow knocked, and was about half draw when he decided to vacate the area.

That's a lot of antler right there! Good luck with him!Was just made aware a potential 150-170”is day lighting on my FIL if his co owner of the property isn’t going Monday I’m going to try to sneak on and get it.
I have seen the trail camera picture of him and he is pushing that all day.

It's an avid armor. Had it about a year now and it's SO much better than a food saverLooking good Ryan. You definitely got a good deal on the saw. We sold ours a few yrs ago.
I'm thinking about selling the hollymatic patty machine. Only gets used once a yr to make patties for a after season hunting party.
What brand chamber vac is that? Mine is over 30 yrs old and needs lots of work. Plus parts are incredibly expensive for it.

Can't remember if we did one of these threads last year or not.
Anyway, time to cut up the 2 doe I shot. Been hanging in the deer fridge for 11 days. Picked up a meat bandsaw for $80 a few weeks ago. Completely unnecessary but too good a deal to pass up. Got my father in law in the same stand right now where I shot these 2 doe so hopefully I'm just making room for his!
