There is a lot of great bino's on the market today and while I have been doing freelance work with Nikon NY for almost 10 years now I tell anyone looking to get them in their hands and look through them. See how they feel, is the weight good, can you carry them all day and glass as much as you need too? That being said, Nikon has gone to great lengths to make sure that they cover all those bases with all their choices. For preseason scouting I have been a fan of the MONARCH 7 8x30's. Compact, bright and clear, plus you can't beat the price! Nikon has a promo going on right now if you are looking to buy, it covers many of their MONARCH line of bino's and will give you a nice discount when you buy from a participating dealer. Just passing this along in case you didn't know about it.

We have been using the BOLT XR for 3 years now and only taken a few pigs. Hoping for a boss Tom this Spring. We have used the BDC reticle to shoot apples at 63 yards going 5 for 5.

Nikon's Spot On Program will also let you optimize your load to a certain vitals sized target when using the Nikonplex reticle. As you can see it tells you the impact at 100 yards should be 2.37 inches high for a 295 yard point blank shot. Pretty cool info on this but if you really want to reach out the BDC reticle does give you the tools to shoot as far as you are comfortable shooting. The 25-06 is one of my favorite cartridges for deer sized game. It definitely gives you flexibility in longrange shooting. I'd definitely look at a scope that will let you experience the potential of the 25-06 round. I used a Nikon PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14 BDC on a 25-06 I borrowed. Dialing in my rifle scope and ammo using Nikon's Spot On Program was easy and accurate. Just so you know, I do some freelance PR work for Nikon down in Texas. Am I biased, Honestly, I don't think so. I've been using Nikon glass for 20 years by choice and that includes part of the 10 years I lived in the North West home of L. $ for $ I think it's hard to go wrong with any Nikon scope or bino. You get a very well built product with a great company standing behind what they sell. I gave my son the PROSTAFF 7 bino last year for hunting and my Father In-Law the MONARCH 5 for Christmas, He used them early for our KS deer hunt. If a 78 year old guy can use a scope and Bino to harvest 3 deer between 200 and 400 yards I think that says a lot for the ease of use and quality of a product. The best way to decide exactly what is best for you is to go someplace where you can look at them side by side and see which is the best for your eyes.
