Saw two bucks sparring in a field in 4B this morning. I was not hunting, but it was a very cool first for my daughter and I!

I found that the G5 montec were off several inches at 40 yards vs field points, which is why I won't use them. I'd be okay adjusting for a different BH impact, but it's not just that impact was off, but it was also inconsistent. Realistically out to 30 not a huge deal but my hunting is based on confidence and I need to know that the implement is up to whatever task, hence Rage mechanicals.
The Montecs are very consistent for me. But I started with Muzzy Trocar and they were not consistent at all. Its interesting how some of us can run with almost identical setups yet our POI's be so different sometimes.
I am a newby, but have many friends who have bowhunted for decades. They are primarily fixed guys so i steered that way.

Didn't feel like going back through 145 posts.....so just wondering what you taped up on the butt stock to silence it?
Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk
I just wrapped the front portion of the butt and also where the number is for the length the adjustment. Hold it vertically from the foregrip and shake it a little, you will see/hear where it rattles and needs to be taped.

I just took the sling off all together and taped up the butt.
Year two with my CP370. Shooting Pile Driver with Montec G5's. The field tips and BH don't shoot the same but the BH are right on the money.
How often would you advise restringing? Based upon visual wear or do you all have a set time frame or number of shots, etc... I faithfully wax the string.

They went back to bucks only a few years ago. I think Salmon hit it in the head as far as finding the Bears year to year.

I have forever been a fan of a one buck a year but that is for another thread ha

Started with one food plot two years ago and added two more this summer in the big woods. We are surprisingly lucky to have decent soil. We planted oats and rye the first year and some mixes this year and the deer loved them. Will Add more in some log landings in 2019 as we are also continuing to log this winter. We have 0 oaks where we are and the beech crop was not stellar. These are not large plots but we hope to attract and hold more deer. Unfortunately, we hunt in a very lightly populated area.

I’m one of the very few (assuming) that doesn’t hunt with a compound but does use a x-bow (first year with xbow). I’ve shot a compound and agree that both seem to have their own set of challenges. Agree with WNY that becoming proficient with xbow is quicker. I’ve never had the time to spend the countless hours the compound guys spend on becoming proficient enough to hunt, something I respect greatly. Maybe this is why traditional guys are against?
Full inclusion may affect us all a little differently depending on where we hunt - private, state, etc. so that may bring many to have differing opinions.
I agree without question a bow hunter course should be required for xbow

alwasys core out the booty first. Then go from tip of his junk up to breast plate. move some stuff around and do some light cutting. reach up to the esophagus and cut it. rip and cut it all out. done.
never sawed anything in the field.
Same here.

I’m new to xbow as well. I practice out to 50, am confident at 30 hunting with all the variables. Been practicing a ton off hand and that has helped my confidence big time.

Yep tons of cool stuff to check out.

I have been successful hunting funnel stands catching cruising bucks during the rut. Had tough luck stand hunting prior to the rut.

Thanks Core, that’s what I figured. I’ve heard the blood trail is not the greatest, but they are deadly. Time will hopefully tell for me. Good luck all

I saw 8 this weekend east of you in Lewis County. Could have shot 4 of them if I had the shotgun.

How can you be a silent stalker eating granola. I always figure the deer will hear and come ask for some.

Not to hijack, but while on the Montec topic, do you guys know the differences (if any) between the regular G5 Montecs and the "Crossbow" G5's?

So I made the upgrade to the Nikon Prostaff P3 and am dialed in. I am very happy with the upgrade and like I believe Core? said, the Nikon Spot on App is easy to work with although the calculations were not exact, albeit very close. Shooting Pile Drivers with G5's.
While i am comfortable at 50 (farthest practiced), my hunting range will be much less.
