  1. Check ebay great deals on last years stuff.
  2. Nice buck .. I hunt Wappingers. In the last 15 years always hunted the exact same spot and took many big bucks in the exact same spot. Yet no sign ,no scrapes and no rubs yet took 7 big boys in that same spot. Keep that spot under lock and key and don't move. Lolol great Dutchess deer..
  3. I took them off one of my friends bucks an couple of years ago. Tied to a string and dragged it in behind me . Hung it in a tree near me. Wasn't in the spot more than 20 minutes and a 8 pointer came following my trail in with fire in his eyes. Took him at 15 yards. I have tried it after that without the same results. So I guess if you know that you are in a dominant bucks area try it it worked once for me.
  4. For me I would . I mount the deer heads if I have a good story to go with it. For me it's not only the size but for every mount I relive the hunt when showing them to people. It's like a finished product of my experience that day in my life. My uncle shot an 8 pointer in the Catskills not huge deer the same day JFK was shot . He is gone now but that head is still here and it's nice to have that story.
  5. I had that same problem with Remington on a mossburg. I bought a Remington 1187 and in every gun I own I shoot Winchester ballistic silver tips. Never an issue.
  6. Not only a monster bear but the fact you did it old school makes it that much more impressive .
  7. Keep us posted I love this site
  8. Coyote fur from close to the skin. But I do love all those responses hahahahah
  9. I have seen a Pileated woodpecker do this to a tree in my yard. Took him 2 days. I was guessing there were bugs in the tree. I don't have a picture it was 3 years ago.
  10. I watched a buck this weekend make 3 two were next to each other and the 3rd one about 7 ft away. He was a small 6

    Rut-less?

I have been out this weekend in Dutchess. I had 1 buck chasing a doe. I had other bucks following doe. I had 2 bucks both big 8' together while one would head towards the doe. Once she ran he smelled the ground while the other 8 watched. Had no shot at either one. Than one went one way and the other went another. I think it's just starting. This week and next will be the rut here.
