Why is there so much less participation then?

Back to my point that time frame was already available to take a kid hunting

They didn't extend the length deer season for this. It's not as if they created a dedicated a time frame for youths only which is what they should do if it's truly about the kids. For some reason(lack of license sales) they felt there was a need to create an incentive for someone to take a youth hunting. Why is it they put this incentive outside of the normal gun season? They obviously felt this would entice more participation due to not infringing on someone's current gun season

Not opposed, but its pretty sad a youth season is even needed. The gov't needs to make a special season so some guy will take his kid hunting? My dad used to just take us with him anytime.

Those analogy's are ridiculous. This is a sport. A sport with seasons that each provide a different challenge. It's becoming blurred more and more in line with today's PC crowd that "Everybody gets a trophy"

Its obviously not as I never stated what you did. Read my words that you highlighted. Its quite clear. Also at no point did I look down on anyone choosing to use a crossbow. All I stated was it gave the bozo's another avenue to continue to be bozo's. You chose to interpret that as you did.

Keeping the bozo's out of the woods as long as possible. There are substantially more gun hunters than archery. Why is that? Because its much easier. The only time I have issues with trespassing and such is during gun season. Making it easier will bring out some of these same clowns during archery. I spend as much time during gun season dealing with morons as I do actually hunting. This isn't directed at all gun hunters, but no one can say the majority of hunting related problems aren't with someone carrying a gun. This year late muzzle loading season I had some trespassing idiot line me up as he was using his scope to scan for deer. So ya I'm all for limiting the amount of time these guys spend in the woods

So you are attributing those small fluctuations as the reason you are now seeing the amount of deer in a season as you did in one day 10 years ago? You could possibly make that argument if the numbers were halved or something. Go back 10 years and the numbers are actually on par with the 12/13 season Oh yeah......and pressured deer tend to move less

Sales of licenses don't reflect this. You seem to leaving out the most important factor. Some areas just have less deer now
