  1. Why does anyone else care what someone else uses to kill a deer... Do you think they are stealing something form you??? Hunt the way you want, why worry about others if it is legal.... Hell.. I use my Black powder during rifle season... I love my black powder... Can it shoot as far as my 06, no... should I bash others for using center fires?? or scopes on guns.. they make it so you can shoot farther... Not sure why what other legal hunters use should bother anyone else...

You are describing a situation that maybe you should be thinking about in a bit of a proactive way. I know it's easier to say than to actually do, but I would be actively looking for other, more stable hunting land. It sounds like it could be sold out from under you at any time. That's not much of a recommendation for the problem you were asking about, but maybe just something to be thinking about in addition to whatever solution you finally come up with regarding those that think you are scouting and erecting stands for their convenience.

Told the wife... Can't look now.. think it is rude to ask for permission during the season... But this winter we are looking for new land out further into NY... figure less out of staters to bug land owners and hopefully, in the zones 7F & 7H I'll get better deer hunting... Thanks for the honestly Doc, Steve D and rob-c... Always appreciate it... Anyone out in those area's know any good places to start please let me know.. ;-)

  3. The farm is in Chaos right now.. original owner passed away... kids don't want it... it's a free for all on that place right now.. just frustrating.. I know everything changes... just sucks when it changes for the bad... Thanks for letting me whine... The guy answered my FB message I sent him, he got a replacement...

  4. I'm sure if I asked he would have told me he had permission to be on the farm... I don't own it... sorry if I gave that impression... I live 2 hours from the farm, so I hunt weekends mostly till vacations.. He is a local from what I am gathering from his FB profile... just really throws me for a loop when people act like I am a guide... they ruin my spots I spend all that time on... I leave sets because my wife and I hunt the farm and we aren't spring chickens.. She's 60 I'm 53... I can't keep popping up two stands every time we hunt... Just frustrating and I am venting to on line "friends"....

  5. I spend months prepping for deer season... start running camera's in June, blinds and stand set in August, lanes cut, etc all before Sept... Then the season comes and people just start using your stands/blinds.... Now I set up 12 sets for this one farm, I hunt only when the wind is best and never over hunt one stand... I have multiple pics of guys using my sets... I caught one guy in one blind this past bow season... Also, in his hurry to leave with me standing over him, he left his hunting license behind OR, he returned to the blind later on and dropped it.. I only found it when I pulled the blind Saturday... (I'm not hunting much during rifle, silly season, and black powder season I am in KY on a hunt).... I can return the license np, I found him on FB so I can message him to let him know and get it back to him if he hasn't already gotten a RP... But your thoughts in general on hunting other peoples sets...

  6. That's typical in areas with a high doe to buck ratio... Bucks can't breed all the does in the first or second rut, some get bred into January... Never good.. Have one similar sized but no spots... told the guys I hunt with not to shoot the doe, give the fawn a chance..

  7. Well, I'm thinking of getting one for my wife.. Was going to buy her a new compound, but she is having shoulder and knee issues so thinking a cross bow and 22 weeks of hunting in NY ( we can get a doctors note to use it here in MA all bow season) is better than her not hunting when her shoulder is hurting her...

  8. Wildcat.... Great info.. but remember, the question was about a shotgun... They aren't flat shooting... to try and hold over a target a set # of inches is crazy especially if you can buy a scope that allows you to do what you do with your rifles, hold on target... I was using my rifle shots with the BDC to point out that you can hold dead on with one of these scopes so you will be more accurate at a longer range.. Was not trying to say anything remotely close to the idea your system doesn't work... You do far more than the average hunter in terms of knowing the abilities of the cartridge you are shooting.. Would love to sit and shoot with you one day for sure... and sit and reload with you as well.. I used to do a ton but kids, work just dragged me away from my bench.. Hoping to get back in and would love to pick your brain when I do for info..

  9. And in terms of the other parts of that... It's all based on the load and sighted in dead on at 100 yards... Not sure why you bashed it from the start if you knew nothing about it... It is accurate.. As stated I used it to shoot a Gemsbok at 309 yards, a black wildebeest at 290 yds and a Blesbok at 260 yds... If you want American made I am sure Leopold makes one, but the technology is there, it is VERY accurate and works perfectly.. takes the idea of hold over and makes it so you aim dead on with the BDC...  I found it VERY helpful for long range shooting...

And wheat if your load is 200fps less Mv than specified and what about the distance of the scope above the bore axis.?

If you are hand loading and know the ballistics of it... it would be a simple math equation to dial it in..

Does each BDC come tailored for each individual load as chronographed for each individual rifle?

If not, I can shoot at distance more accurately with my duplex reticle knowing exactly how many fps muzzle velocity my load generates and the ballistic coefficient of the bullet.. I've seen factory ammo shoot nearly 200 fps less than spec'ed..

Furthermore, by knowing how much my duplex reticle subtends, I can estimate yardage very quickly.

So you are saying you knew nothing about them but still wrote "Smoke and mirrors"??? You go to the website and select what scope, what caliber, gauge etc.. Then select the load you are using... So to answer your question, it does customize it to the load... That's why I suggested it and recommend it..

Um, no... The BDC reticles work for rifle and BP I can guarantee it... Took game out passed 300 yds with it on my rifle... works fantastic on a rifle, I haven't used one on a shotgun, but I know it is a big advantage on my BP...

We just cut the cord again and are going to get the Fire stick, I'll have to look into some of these shows. Maybe lol

I haven't watched a hunting show in years.

Get the KODI app. loaded on it... Then get Carbon TV for sure... That's free...
