  3. Awesome day in the woods this morning. At sunrise/fly down I called in a VERY vocal hen to 10 yards. Her and I worked in 2 BIG long beards and 3 Jake's. The plan was for her to stay with me till the long beards got close. She forgot the plan and when they got 60 yards she couldn't help herself, she ran to them. Lol. The Jake's came over to about 20yds but I don't shoot Jake's. My choice, if you do that's fine. So. I swing around trying to get ahead but caught the tail end of the flock. Set up again. Put my patience cap on and waited. I called every 10 to 15 minutes and 1 hour later BOOM! Long beard gobble behind me. I swing around the tree, set up, see him crossing a Greenfield towards me. Hit him with a cluck n purr and he roars at me. Swings to my left, got up on a hill, in the sun and decided he looked beautiful there. He spent the next hour plus on that hill, spitting, drumming and gobbling. Closest I got him was 48 yds. Yes. My gun and I can kill turkeys at that range but I wanted him at a certain point and I never feel the "need" to squeeze the trigger. That's me. Well. He's being stubborn so my plan is let him walk off. I move in and call him back. Plan starts off great. He leaves gobbling. I let him go. Then. The Jake gang came. You would think the LB would run but NOPE. The Jake's are yelping and gobbling and he turns and goes right at them. Cue HUGE Gobbler/Jake fight!!! Fighting purrs, aggressive yelps, clicks and gobbles. I think my diaphragm call almost fell out of my open mouth staring in awe. Lol. If I'm not mistaken those Jake's are still chasing him further off the property. Lol. Great day, one of the best I've had in years. Trigger squeeze not required. Lol. 4. Hit or miss. Shot a nice 3 year old opening weekend. Text book hunt. Buddy hunting same farm never heard a bird. Last weekend we switched. Here's his 2 year. Hoping this weekend we both kill. Good luck to all still hunting. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

  6. 1st time out this spring hunting, May 2nd. Called in this 2-3year old. Great hunt. He got lonely about 730. Worked him the 150 yds to a load of 5s. 21lbs plus. 9" beard. 14/16 and 15/16 spurs. Hammered at every call I made. Was enjoying every gobble but had to force myself to stop calling to much so he would stop strutting and come to me. Lol. 35 minutes from start to boom. I used a Fiddlehead pot call and he just couldn't resist. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk

  8. Sky at 8 months old with my buddies dog, locked on point.. No, not me shooting,, Dogs did their part though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyfO2nlmNuA
  9. She loves the contact. She was pick of the litter of 12 pups so she craves being close. Her brother Red was 1 of 6, he's not a fan when she "puppy piles" him. Lol Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  10. Here's my soon to be 8 month old female Sky. Yes. She's asleep and snoring. Lol Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  11. Liver roan or Black roan is a color for German Short Haired pointers.. Means instead of white it has a blend of colors in it.. Here's my male "Red" (Short for Reddington) from the day he was born and how the color progressed...
  12. Two key factors in them dropping is physical stress and all the does being bred.. Mild winter and high doe population is dragging that out for sure..
  13. My 7.5 month old liver roan female and my 2 year old black roan GSP's doing what they love.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5oxPW5Rxvg Sky retrieving a nice rooster that tried to run from her and Red... They pinned him, forced a flush.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM5Azq8By7Y
  14. I've called them in gobbling in October...
  15. Thanks.. Her half brother Red is a great teacher.. LOL.. He's the black GSP..
  16. In my freezers are the following.. Plus I have 3-5 more hunts for pheasants between now and April.. Then Turkey season in Ma & Ny..
  17. Here are some pics and videos of her hunt.. This is her second hunt ever, she's 7 months old this weekend.. The hunt was this past Saturday..
  18. One of the most genuine guys I've ever met.. Gave me some great tips that have worked awesome.. Kill a lot of Tom's with that slate Jackpot call, did great competing with it too... Nothing better than a well made slate call. I'm a pot call junkie, but my go to, if I need to kill a bird call is my Primos Jackpot over all my custom pot calls..
  19. I never think of bear hunting in NY... We just started seeing them on trail cams the past few years.. In Ma we have good #'s of them, and big ones.. AND... I can bring it home, No CWD in bears..
  20. I do like hunting bears too.. LOL This past Sept. 260lbs dressed, Ma bear.
  21. I do... That is true.. I can go sit and hunt for bears... I do have some trail cam pics of them..
  22. I just didn't want to just sit in the truck or sit with them increasing smell and movement.. let them hunt on their own... Figure I could get some exercise and shoot some annoying squirrels.. LOL
  23. Just didnt want to break any rules. Lol Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
