  1. Just curious if anyone has seen any fawns dropped yet. Early this morning one of the dogs started barking like crazy in the house around 4 a.m. I could hear something coming from outside so I opened the front door and could hear what sounded like a drawn out deer snort every 10 seconds or so for several minutes. The sound never seemed to move from the one spot so I was kind of wondering if maybe a doe had given birth and maybe a predator had gotten ahold of the Fawn. Maybe it's something entirely different. Anyone else ever heard something like this in the woods before? Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  2. I don't disagree one bit. Though I don't currently hunt with it, my number one choice as far as big game hunting goes would be my 6" model 57 for all the reasons you stated. You certainly can't kill game any deader with the hyped up magnums but they did interest me enough to pick up an x frame in the 460 to add to my collection. Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  3. A lot of reliable classics on this thread. I haven't seen one that I'd hesitate to carry in the woods yet. I am kind of surprised there's not a whole lot of newer models and calibers on here though, guess it goes to show newer doesn't mean better Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  4. That's definitely one of the many benefits of handloading. As far as being an oddball caliber, those are my favorite ones. Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  5. A guy I used to work with had a contender in 7-30 and he loved it. Someday I may have to invest in a contender, don't think I've ever met an unhappy owner of oneSent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  6. Haven't gotten an opportunity to test it other than at the range but here's my 460 xvr topped with a Nikon force xr. More gun than I'll ever "need" at the ranges I shoot but I sure did want it bad enough to justify it. Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk

    10ML II

All of my other MLs get unloaded each day but I shoot smokeless in the savage and will sometimes pull the primer if I'm taking it out again the very next day. I still always run my ramrod down the bore before each loading just to verify it isn't already loaded as a precaution but I'm just curious if there's any problems with humidity or other moisture issues that would cause problems with keeping it loaded. 10ML II

I was just curious if any of you fellow 10ml II owners unload your gun after each hunt or only when necessary. I only take it out for a day or so at a time in a zone that doesn't allow rifles and again a few times in the late season. So mine is never loaded more than a day or two but I was curious if anyone has kept them loaded for extended periods such as throughout the length of the season and if there was any noticeable loss in accuracy or other effects.
  9. Haha I wish I had some sort of a comeback to that, I guess I'll just have to let it slide this timeSent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  10. Yea that's just up the road from me, if you want to send me a pm you can. I have no idea how to send messages or anything on here.
  11. I'm down in the southern end of cattaraugus county near Olean.
  12. Grew up hunting just on the southern side of the pa/ny border until moving over the line a few years ago into ny. I don't have the time to hunt both states like I used to so I opted to go the resident route and gave up hunting pa. Unfortunately this meant giving up the spots I grew up with and most of my hunting partners. Over the last few years I've used the info on this forum to help me discover new areas to hunt near me but for some reason never joined this community until just now.
