  1. Sorry my fault. I hate my pressure canner because one day I will blow myself up. I simply boiled the tomatoes in a sterile jar for 85 minutes. Way more time but safe and my wife didn't ask me every five minutes if everything was OK. The jar I put in the fridge wasn't boiled at all just removed the skin and placed in a jar.

I think your the guy who loves cowboy candy?  That's up next.

  2. My favorite part of growing tomatoes.  Four quarts of Roma tomatoes. Braising lamb shank tomorrow so I didn't pressure can one quart.

I braise lots of meats fall and winter so hopefully I get 10 quarts. Anyone who grows tomatoes should try this. Easy and it doesn't require a pressure canner.

  3. At least the bear didn't swat my camera.......this time. I know exactly where the 8 point lives, I chased him last year but can't access his bedding. He has 1000 acres behind my cabin to play on yet he lives 75 yards from the cabin in a briar patch surrounded on saplings he loves to tear up.

Last picture is a natural licking branch.

  4. Well powerplant was destroyed but fed lots of deer. Definitely draws them in. Brassicas are coming in pretty well, I'm going to overseed bare spots and fertilize after this cold beer it's hot up here!

Six bucks in the half acre plot the last two weeks, at least one shooter.

Tomorrow I'll seed two loggings trails I usually have luck with. Both already sprayed and will be no till plots to make LETEMGROW proud.

Very dissatisfied with the new camera I bought. Quality of pictures is crap.

Land should have diversity woods / fields and a water source.

Most timberland in ny is hi-graded.  You may have big trees but if you dont know the type/ species you can buy a barren wasteland as ecosystems go. You can change that but it takes years and  a  lot of effort.  Properly managed the property will pay for itself. In timber value and recreation.

My place started out as a hunting camp. But i soon discovered all my free time was being spent here. So i built and moved.  Its an hour and 15  min to work  but i couldn't afford what i have anywhere  near the suburbs.

As for 130 in plus bucks they are here but most dont want to put time or effort in to get them. Proper habitat is key and a large enough parcel to allow them to grow up.

Preach!  My favorite poster, thanks for your insights.

  6. From today. Shocked how many red jalapeños I keep getting, I almost can't keep up with them.

Lost some poblanos from leaving them on the plant to long, I need to get my ass out there everyday.

Tomatoes have been ripening perfect in a paper bag with a couple red apples, so I've been pulling them early for plant health and hopefully to stop my cages from collapsing.

  7. Lomax, if those are brassica plots, that's not spotty at all. I think everyone with a food plot in NY needs rain right now.

Same as most of us I'm watching daily for rain and as the rain gets close the forecast changes every stinking day. Well Wednesday looks like rain at my cabin so I'll shoot up tomorrow and hope the forecast holds true.

  8. Melons started to flower today. Still losing tomatoes to another chipmunk.  Brussel sprouts are such a pain in the butt, I'm glad I walked the garden today because for the second time this year (two years in a row)there are tiny black bugs that decimate the plant very very quickly. Put DE on them and my eggplant.

I'm losing peppers to snapped branches never had this problem do to deer browse. Tomorrow I'll pick cucumbers and eggplant but have no clue what to do but sell them/ give away. Good problem to have.
