Don't have patience for the crockpot. I want it today! In the Dutch oven with a beer for 5 or 6 hours and it will be real tender. Pics later.

They called for 1-3" here in Albany. We got 6". Supposed to be 40's rest of the week. We have no reason to drive anywhere. I'm letting it melt.

Whered you eat? The North End has incredible restaurants
Ate at a place called Benevento's. It was pretty old school and divey. Food was pretty good though. My wife claimed her lobster ravioli was the best she ever had. I had the pasta bolongnese and it was good. Kids both had spaghetti and meatballs and loved it. Also went to a bakery called Bova's for desert. That place was awesome.

Boston Massachusetts not having the st Patrick’s day parade One of the biggest in the country
Just spent the weekend in Boston. Hit the North End Saturday night for dinner. It was packed. Quincy Market, China Town and Celtics game on Sunday. We went through quite a bit of hand sanitizer between the four of us. Did see some people wearing masks but wasn't keeping people from being out and about. One thing I did notice was people's reluctance to touch doors and door handles. Almost everyone was pulling down their coat sleeves to touch handles and holding doors open with their elbows.

Good choice. Looks to be in pretty good shape. I have a No. 8 and a No. 10 Griswold that were my great grandmothers. Both from the early 1900's. Use them all the time. They are great pans. I also have a Lodge I bought about 10 years ago. I like the Griswolds better.

This is what I do to older pans I find.
1. Spray oven cleaner all over - top, bottom, sides, handle - and out into a garbage bag for 24 hours.
2. Remove and wash. It should be down to the metal. If not you can repeat or take some steel wool to spots as necessary.
3. Heat oven to 500 and put thin coat of oil on all surfaces of pan. You want a high smoke point oil like grapeseed oil. Place pan in 500 degree oven and let it cool down room temperature. Repeat two more times but only coat the inside of pan. Key here is thin coat.
4, After use and cleaning - I use salt and water, but also use soap occasionally, I dry thoroughly by heating the pan quickly and then wipe on a very thin coat of oil and put away.
For re-seasoning an old pan, pretty much this^^^
One step that I add is after step 2, I soak in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water for an hour or so to neutralize the oven cleaner and it will also dissolve any rust the pan may have.
As an alternate to the oven cleaner, you can mix up a jar of red devil drain cleaner with water in a 5 gallon bucket and let your pan soak in it for a few days.
Regarding cleaning, most people will say to never use soap on your cast iron but I usually use a small amount with a plastic scrubby to wash out with no ill effects. Key is to dry right away after cleaning, get hot on the stove, and coat with a very LIGHT coating of oil. Wipe out with a clean towel completely - the sheen you see left by the oil is all you want.

Biggest disappointment was my dad wasn't able to hunt this year and I did not get to spend time in the woods with him. Also, didn't get to spend as much time in the woods as I would have liked due to family and work obligations. However I will say that watching my daughter in sports was as enjoyable as being in the woods, so I guess not really a disappointment.
What's for dinner tonight?
