  1. I am a seasoned veteran hunter. I hunt on my own land and frequently encounter does with fawns, and have had this happen a few times already this season. I personally will not shoot a doe with fawns. A few years ago I regularly had a big mature doe with her fawn come by my stand during bow season. I would not shoot her. On opening day of gun season, she came by me again with her fawn and I let her walk. She walked off my property, crossed a road, and shortly thereafter I heard a single gunshot. I knew someone shot her and felt terrible. The next day I hunted my property and as I walked to my stand, the fawn followed me to my stand like a lost puppy dog. I climbed into my stand and the fawn just hung around and would not leave. I felt terrible. A couple of days later, the fawn was killed by coyotes and I found the remains right in the same area. Everyone has to decide for themselves, but I would personally rather not have any venison in the freezer than shoot a doe with fawns.
  2. I am looking for a used bolt action rifle in .308 cal. in very good to excellent condition for a reasonable price. Please PM me with any offers and details.
  3. Due to many years of hunting (46+) and many shots with no hearing protection, my hearing has suffered the consequences. I have decided to invest in a good pair of electronic hearing muffs, the kind that will amplify low sounds and protect against the damage caused by gunshots. I am considering the Leight Impact Sport muffs and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with them, or any other good electronic hearing muffs. I plan on wearing the muffs while deer hunting in my treestand and while turkey hunting in my ground blind. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  4. I hunt cottontails over my 2 beagles and have been hunting bunnies with beagles for over 45 yrs. I prefer a 20 ga. with a modified choke as the best all around choke. I like to stack my rounds with the first 2 rounds being low base #6 and the third round being high base #6 in case the bunny is in thick cover or is a long shot. This has worked the best for me for the type of rabbit hunting I do. When I hunt snowshoe hares, I use the same modified choke but load strictly high base #6, and this has also worked out well for me.
  5. I have for sale a Tritonics Trashbreaker Ultra XLS 1-dog shock system. It is the older non expandable trashbreaker. It is in excellent condition and in perfect working order. It features a 2 mile range, 6 levels of continuous stimulation, tone, and no external collar antenna. It was reconditioned by the Collar Clinic 2 yrs. ago and I will guarantee it works flawlessly. Includes transmitter, collar with receiver, long and short contact points, charger, owner's manual, carrying case, and nylon holster. I am only selling this because I picked up a second dog and had to buy a 2 dog system. Price is $220 including shipping to lower 48. PM me if interested.
  6. I love to hunt rabbits with my 2 beagles. I enjoy the thrill of the chase, the baying of the dogs, the great exercise (for both me and the dogs), and the great tasting meat. I live in the Auburn area and if you have some good property to hunt, I would be glad to hook up with you and do some rabbit hunting together.
