I'm guessing they don't tend to drop in there tracks with a .243?

I have a 30-06 and a 270 that I use, but if I buy a .243 I probably would want to take it deer hunting that's why I asked. It sounds like a 243 would work but you would have to be right on the money for shot placement. What's the highest grain bullet for a 243

I have heard people say 243 is to small of a rifle to hunt deer with and others say it is a great deer gun. Im thinking about getting one and wanted some more input. What do ya think???

That is true. It really won't bother me if I don't get a bow buck this year. I still had a couple good encounters with a couple nice bucks, and I did harvest a doe. So all in all I had a good bow season.

I wasn't able to hunt tonight but I thought about it all day. seeing that big buck chasing yesterday really got me fired up. Hopefully I canl play hooky from work at least one day this week for one more chance at a buck with the bow. This will be the first bow season in three years without killing a buck if I don't get one. Oh well that's the it works sometimes. Good luck to the rest of you guys who have more time to hunt.

That's cool looking. another reason why I went with snow camo is because it was pretty much a freaking blizzard when I shot that one! Second day of gun season last year.

I will try to get a hold of him tomorrow and see if he minds me giving out some contact information. I don't see why he would. It would just give him more business. He has a nice little shop behind his house where he does it all. I don't know how he finds time to do it but he does. He is a police officer, a fireman, and a emt. Also has two boys in school that are in sports.

Thanks. That is a good one too. I like the snow camo because it seemed to stand out better than the darker camo. If I get one this year I might go with a lighter colored camo pattern. I actually like this style mount just as much as a full head mount

Anyone ever get a hydro dip skull mount. A friend of mine does them and he does a great job.

Today was the first day I saw a buck chasing a doe all season.

I had a really nice 8 point chasing a doe go by me today. The doe starting heading towards me but of course the buck took off after her and she turned the opposite direction and he followed her. The closest he came to me was about 50 or 60 yards. Just when I thought it was going to happen the doe headed him right away from me and to the other side of the ravine I hunt by. I could have decked him with my rifle. That's usually my bow hunting luck. That's the second time this season I had close encounters. The first encounter was, I started to draw on a nice buck and never saw the deer that snuck in behind me and as I started to draw, the deer behind me spotted me and blew and you all know the rest of the story.

I just put it all together. My uncle and I are putting it up tomorrow. It's has jaw lock system that grips the tree even before climbing up to use the ratchets. Do you have one?

I just got a primal mac daddy 22 ft ladder stand. Do any of you use or have you heard of these stands? I'm putting it up today at some point. It looks nice and comfy

Beautiful mornin to be in the woods. I feel bad because I didn't spend much time with my daughter this weekend, but it's probably my last days for bow hunting. I may not pass on a smaller buck today if I see one.
