Kevlar Archery Shooting Glove
TheFieldArcher replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Unless you are still using the old overdraw, you should not be worried about the broadhead. The kevlar is to protect against snapping arrows, carbon arrows have a caution on them to inspect your arrow before shooting, but if you miss a crack and the arrow snaps when shot... the kevlar should protect against the damaged arrow. The manufacturer shot the glove with damaged arrows and none of the carbon fibers penetrated. -

Kevlar Archery Shooting Glove
TheFieldArcher replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have had arrows snap very easily when inspecting them, didn't see any cracks or splinters but a little bend did it... I guess if the crack starts inside and a bend doesn't do it but the next shot will... anyway, the glove felt good and will be great on cold bow season mornings, the kevlar protection for only $30.00 was an easy decision. -
Out groundhog hunting today, took some footage of the new bow and put it together with some 2011 deer hunting footage... just for fun video with the new bow, review video to follow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jCFz1-wxnY

2012 APA Sidewinder HE2 Bow Specs: Speed: 333 FPS Axle to Axle Length: 30″ Brace Height: 7” Draw Length: 25.5″-31.5” Peak Draw Weights: 40, 50, 60, 70 lbs. Weight: 3.4 lbs. Let-Off: 75% MSRP: $679.90 The APA Sidewinder HE2 is an awesome short, light, fast bow. Set up for hunting the bow is pretty quiet for such a light bow and has almost no vibration (with Limbsaver cable guard and suppressor rod dampeners, also installed a Stabilizer). The 3.4 pound lightweight is great for still hunting big game and hunting the fields for chucks all day. The short 30" ATA (actually measures 30.25" ) makes it great for ground blinds and the 7" brace height makes it very forgiving. The bow has 75% let off and holds very nice, very smooth draw and drawing 70 pounds feels like 60! and it won't want to rip your arm out of the socket if you creep a bit. Through the Chrony she shot a 350 grain arrow 307 FPS at 70 pounds and 29" draw. Other features: The BM cam has holes in it so you can step on the string, pull the bow up and stick a pin in one of the holes and it releases tension off of the string, no bow press required for changing strings, adding a peep, silencers etc.. The "fang" is for hanging your bow on a limb while in a treestand or on the ground. The bow also has a tool area on the riser, built in broadhead wrench and nock turn tool. The finish on the bow is very nice and smooth. This is a great bow for the money, I would put it up there with similar bows in the $800.00 range. The only thing that I could see being a problem is if you want to use a QAD, Apache or similar drop away rest, the shelf is not flat and the cable guard is in the way if you like your QAD against the riser, the QAD and Apache style will not fit without modifications. You can use the QAD Ultra Rest set back like an overdraw, but it is very loud! I went with a Whisker Biscuit and it works great, quiet too.

Thank you, the bow is a Bear Attack.

Not mentioned before, the Carbon Express Torrid SS broadhead used in this video, $12.95 a 3 pack! Probably the best buy in archery today!

Yes, the other one has music, some guys don't like the music so I made up this one. Thanks guys.

Thanks, and thanks for watching!

Just having some fun down in NJ, I hope you guys get a chuckle from this, the arc was a thing of Beauty, notice the sound of the Torrid SS broadhead with an adder when it hits the skull.

I was at the Eagle Arms gun show at Split Rock in PA on 3/24, there was a guide there from NY that had boar hunts, 3 days for $1000.00 and 2 boar limit, anyone know who this guide/ranch is? My buddy lost the information. Thank you.

Video: Bow hunting fox / predator calling, fox down!
TheFieldArcher replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in General Hunting
I use a dying rabbit call, it works great! If they are in the area they will bolt in and it is amazing how they they seem to know exactly where it came from even if you stopped calling before they come into sight. -
Last year I called in a ton of fox, I could not get a kill on video, you never know where they will come from and when they do come in, they never stop moving for very long to get the camera on them, aim and release... Well, it all came together yesterday, I got the camera on it and drew my bow as quickly as I could...

Full mount! P&Y tree rat! Thanks everyone, glad you guys got a kick out of it, Happy Thanksgiving!

After hunting him hard for 5 weeks, it happened! Tons of trail cam pics later, we named him "Rocky", we had him scored and he actually makes the book! P&Y, he is a beast and my wife is pissed because I am getting a full mount, once in a lifetime thing! They just don't understand! Geeeez! Unreal hunt and I put this together, sights and scenes from the season leading to him, TAGGED OUT!
