  1. They were 20-40 yards. All sight & stalk, use the hedgerows or just inside of the woods. I don't know what kind of bush that was they were sitting on, their hole was below them, the one didn't make it to the hole!
  2. Rifles are allowed in NJ for chucks... used to hunt them with rifles years ago, we would spot them and try to get as far as possible from them for the shot. The one chuck in the video at the end is a 40 yard head shot, my rangefinder read 42 yards so I held it on it's head, it was 40! The neck shot was 35 yards and the others were 20 and 25 yards.
  3. Bow And Crossbow: 7 Woodchuck Hunts
  4. http://youtu.be/GuuH5X059wQ?hd=1 This is the head combination used in the video, first shot blew threw the spine.
  5. Thanks Pal, your breaking me up Dave Just for the record you posted the video on May 15th and you mentioned the horse breeder where you hunted the chucks on May 23. If you had mentioned it up front there would have been no questions asked, as to why you were killing the chucks. End of my input on this subject. Good huntingDave Dave, I think you learned a lesson here, don't jump to conclusions! Ask before you assume... but really, even if it wasn't a breeder/trotter trainer where I hunt them... there is no problem with fellow hunters going out and shooting them for the fun of it, it is legal! There is a crow season, who the heck is going to eat that... if it is within the law, support your fellow hunter... and even trappers! lol
  6. Shooting them for a specific reason is one thing but shooting them for no reason is another. The video never mentioned there were a problem created by the chucks or he was asked by a farmer to get rid of them because they caused damage . Dave Sorry Dave, I did mention in this thread about the horse breeder that gave me permission because he was worried about his horses in the high grass breaking a leg in a woodchuck hole. I will make sure I give reasons why I am hunting a specific game in my videos in the future... just for you, buddy! Also, for you, I am going to write the Outdoor Channel and Sportsmans Channel and tell them "Dave wants to know what you eactly did with the yote, hog, squirrel, prarie dogs... etc., etc,....." and if you cooked them, Dave wants the recipe too! Just because, it's you, Dave! ;D
  7. Just trying to give you more ideas on the same level as your lame productions, man. hahahahahaha hahahaha yeah, good come back, shouldn't you be in school?
  8. These are not attacks just responses from watching someone who gets off on killing chucks and pretends he is practicing for deer season. Don't make assumptions about the hunting ability of the members on this site, we are neither jealous or unsuccessful.Dave What is wrong with woodchuck hunting? What is wrong with bowfishing for carp? What is wrong with crow hunting?..etc., etc., etc.... I don't eat any of them, but there is a HUNTING/FISHING season for them... I like racoons so I feed them, see , I don't waste! Great thread! > ???
  9. You are not baiting me into watching any more of your psychopath videos! Are you so in love with seeing yourself in your psychotic videos that you had to post another?? Even though people are making fun of you for them?! haha We know who the psychopath is... disturbing thought about the children/school bus... who thinks of that?
  10. I think the attacks come from frustrated/jealous non successful hunters.
  11. haha....You're 45 years old guy! Your youtube page contains the creepiest videos ever made. I am waiting for the one where you are hiding behind one of those big post office mailboxes on the street corner, peering around it at a bunch of children getting off the schoolbus (full Ultimate Warrior makeup, of course). Then a slow-mo from the rear of you walking up to a little boy that fell behind the rest of the group to tie his shoe. Your arm reaching out, then a fade to black. Or do you already have this video made and just not posted...........Hmm, I wonder....... Children? Where did that come from? some imagination there, that is creepy!
  12. Amen! Spend some of that free time you obviously have to look for a girlfriend, my man! If that is for me, I am married and I have a 18 and 14 year old boys. Advertisement??? Really, this is a HUNTING forum and a hunter shares a hunt and why so much hate? Hey, what is wrong with this video? we ate it too! She was good, you can't eat the antlers!
  13. Spot on. Is this the picture we want to portray to the public. As ethical hunters.Dave I think so, nice quick kill... lights out!
  14. Guy's have said that watching my videos and especially the winter bow videos have inspired them to get out more and they had success... mission accomplished! I try to make it look like fun, geared towards the newer/younger hunters to get out more and enjoy the outdoors. And I don't care what state a hunter is from, your brother is your brother! Jersey just recently allowed baiting, I have plenty of bow kills on the wall that were not taken over bait, including a 15 point non-typical w/drop tine(from Jersey) so really, no big deal, you would probably find something negative about that too... I have been to other states, something wrong with that too in your book... luckily not in Texas over bait or you would have all kinds of negative feedback on that!
  15. If you ejoy the woodchuck hunting videos and other archery hunting videos I share, check out my new one "Chuck at 35 Yards" on my facebook page here, if you are on FB and "like it"... hit the "like", thanks everyone: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/The-Field-Archer/203839542964870
  16. If you shot him because he was doing crop damage to a local farmer, or he was digging holes on a horse farm, I think those would qualify as "good reasons". I agree with Blur, though its probably the minority view on a hunting forum. You should have a reason for killing something other than, "It was in range". I disagree with you about killing animals just to practice marksmanship or stalking. You can stalk something without killing it. I stalk deer out of season all the time, just to work on my skills. And I shoot my bow from all different positions at targets, including from my treestand. I also have never thought it was much of a challenge to sneak up on a woodchuck or muskrat. The ones that live near me must be use to having humans around because I've walked within 20 feet of them before they decide to waddle off. Just this Sunday I walked within 10 yards of a muskrat playing in a pond while I was turkey hunting. Sat there for 15 minutes just enjoying nature at work before resuming my turkey seach. To each their own. You were completely within your rights to shoot him for whatever reason, but other people are fully within their rights to say it rubs them the wrong way if you killed it for no productive use. Seems to me like this is all moot anyway. You sound like you had a reason to kill the animal, and if you do indeed use the corpse to bait in a couple of yotes, all the better. I agree "different strokes for different folks!"... but when it comes to hunting and fellow hunters, I support what they do. I am not a big fan of trapping, but I support the guy's and gal's that enjoy it! I would never post something negative about trapping, especially against their videos, pulling up drowned beavers with traps on them is something I would not do... but I will stand behind those that choose to do it!
  17. blur obviously has never hunted woodchucks... shoot paper??? blur, try getting in bow range of a chuck. Chucks have excellent eyesight and you can find yourself in "non textbook" shooting positions when you do get in bow or crossbow range... you won't get that shooting paper... and paper won't "bust you" if your stalking skills need work(because you may suck at stalking and should practice). Thats my point, OFF SEASON PRACTICE AND GREAT FOR YOUTH OR GUY'S THAT ARE NEW TO BOW HUNTING.... still disagree? You shouldn't waste yotes, I think they are fluffy and cute!
  18. Coyotes, pigs and rats are the exception? Why? Because you say so? How about the the horse breeder where I am hunting the chucks, if they step in a chuck whole in the high grass and suffer a break, too bad for him? Or the farmer that is receiving crop damage??? Funny how Coyotes, pigs, and rats are okay but chucks are not on your list, do they look too much like your pet guinea pig? Besides, chucks are good yote bait there tunnel vision!
  19. No, but I am working on my skills... kinda like off season prep for the deer season. I figure if I am practicing on woodchucks all summer(that have excellent eyesight), when the fall rolls around I should be in good shape shooting at animals the size of a deer kill zone all off season!
  20. I hope this is helpful for the guy's thinking about repairing and fletching their own arrows. Archery How To: Repairing, Wrapping and Fletching Arrows
  21. Just as long as you follow a given states hunting laws... go out and hunt within the law and have fun doing it! Don't worry about what others think... if baiting is legal where you hunt and you do not think it is ethical, don't bait... if it is legal and you think it allows you to stop the animal in the perfect shooting lane for the perfect shot and a quick ethical kill... ENJOY! Just as long as hunters support each other and hunter numbers increase and state laws are followed... all is good! If you agree and you are into a good cause... and you are on facebook, join my page! Thanks guy's! http://www.facebook.com/update_security_info.php?wizard=1#!/pages/The-Field-Archer/203839542964870
  22. Never heard of baiting turkeys... just using decoys... but you can check it out here: njfishandwildlife.com Just copy and past above, for some reason the link is not working on here.
