When looking at the crossbows you mention, look at the physical weight, cocking weight and speeds. After looking at the crossbows you mention, compare them to this: http://www.wyverncre...products_id=390 The Stryker SZ350, is very light for a crossbow at 6.9 LBs, and 350 FPS with 135 pound limbs is awesome! Very quiet for a crossbow and very narrow. If you want more speed, go with the SZ380. I love my 350, I have had Parkers(very loud, I call them Thunder Bombs) and Barnetts(Thunder Bomb II).

The SZ380 & SZ350 are the best crossbows for the money. Wyvern is the place to buy them(any crossbow they stock, the best customer service and Daves knowledge is second to none!). The CX Covert SLS limbs are 185 LB draw, kinda loud. http://www.wyverncreations.com/ The only downside to Excaliburs is they need heavy weight limbs to achieve the speeds of the compound x-bows, that is why they are so loud... they are also very wide... but in their commercials they show that you can throw them out of your tree, drive over them with your truck, dry fire them... but really, who does any of this??? Stryker had problems with their limbs when they first introduced the SZ's. The new Strykers have black limbs and they no longer have the problems, they changed the limbs. I had a SZ 380, I sold it to get a verticle, when I really started to miss it, I got the SZ350 and this is why... The SZ350's limbs are 135 LB(SZ380 limbs are 160LB), that is 67.5 pounds to draw with a rope cocker, very easy to do in a treestand. I would not small game hunt with my SZ380, a 380 FPS bolt at a fox is sick! The bolt will end up in the next state! But I do small game hunt with the 350 and my bolts don't blow up on pass throughs like the 380's did. 135 LB limbs means less string, cable, bearing etc. wear. The SZ's trigger is awesome! But you have to use the crossbow correctly, cock the crossbow and the first safety engages, then you manually put in the other safety, then load the bolt. The mistake is not using the second safety, loading the bolt without the second safety is rolling the dice, the trigger is sweet on this bow but loading the bolt can set it off. The SZ's are one of the quietest crossbows out there, they could easily sell for over $1000.00, that is why they are so popular. The SZ's are very narrow and they are under 7 pounds too!

I have and use the Simmons, works well, tends to go back and forth... example, push the button and it reads 40 yards, push it again and it reads 42 yards, it will go back and forth quite a bit, no bigh deal, always within a couple yards. The velcro belt holder that comes with it sucks, the velcro does not last long and it will fall out just bending over. The negatives are not a big deal, another holder or putting it in a backpack or fanny pac takes care of that. I would buy it again.

Thank you very much guys!

All of that stuff about the shims comes from guys that want their bows super tuned... you can super tune any bow out there because everyone likes something different. I like it the way it is and I am not changing any of the original parts because it shoots lights out! I walk back tuned it. Thanks for all of the awesome comments, check it out if you are looking for a new bow and you have a dealer around you.

A review won't do it justice! It is that nice, just wait until you draw and release... wow! Smooth draw, no hump like the Strother SR71 had, the back wall is super solid and the let off feels like there should be a button to release it because it jus holds, almost like you can come off the string, get your rangefinder, check the distance and go back to the string waiting for you at full draw! At the release it is dead in the had... but I mean dead, a lot of bows claim that but this one has nothing! Best of luck with yours, you are gonna love it! Not dipped it is color fusion, I guess the best way to describe it is it looks like it is in the metal with super smooth feel, very sharp and clean. The Bear was sold, I loved that bow but this bow has like no vibe at the shot and I really like the back wall being rock solid, the Bear had a spungy back wall... this LF is my Bear attack but just quieter, smoother draw, no vibe at the shot and I don't have to worry about replacing those darn rubber suppressors every 3 months anymore! No dealers around, I got it from Obsession, I was talking with the owner before the LF was released, I was originally interested in their SS.She came Wednesday, got tuned Thursday, sighted in Friday and drew blood Saturday! The Lethal Force's first shot on game found a whistle pig!

Cabelas Elite Stop target is made by Rinehart, on sale now and save $$$$ with Cabelas buying power and who cares if it says Cabelas... did a great job stopping my SZ350 bolts, a little tough to pull out at first, a little lube on the arrows does the trick!

Whistle pigs are great practice for deer, considering they are the size of a deer kill zone! I got some G5 small game heads coming, I hear they do a great job stopping'em in their tracks. Take some pics next time!

2012 Obsession Lethal Force, I just got her today and set it up quick with a Golden Key Premier prong rest, put a couple arrows through her and all I can say is WOW! Pulled the Golden Key and put on a QAD Ultra Rest LD, she gets tuned tomorrow and a review to follow.

North New Jersey. Thank everyone, thanks for watching! -
Getting fired up for the season? I can't wait! I took footage from 2010 & 2011 bow hunts and messed with the editing. Heading to South Carolina this fall for whitetails and hogs and then South America late winter for red stag with a buddy that has family there. I have not been on a hunting trip since "92", fired up!

Been shooting this bow for over a month now, for a mid range price bow, it shoots more like a high range bow! At 3.4 LBS, I love how shock and vibration almost don't exist and it is quiet (as you can tell in the video), awesome for such a lightweight bow... and it is very accurate with it's 30" axle to axle!

Kevlar Archery Shooting Glove
TheFieldArcher replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Yes, the manufacturer had a test, shot snapped carbon arrows into the glove with gel in them, none of the fibers or arrow penetrated the glove. -
Thanks guys, can't wait for bow season to get here!
