Hey, I know it's late into the season for this but I'm just feeling it out for the future. I'm new to hunting, and I live in Brooklyn. I have a couple of friends in 3s that hunt but its not that easy to coordinate with them. Anybody closer to Brooklyn that would possibly be looking to partake when possible. I have no problem traveling a bit if timing is right. I also own a trailer in nj that is about 15 minutes from Orange County and from what I heard there is state land there but I have no information about it. Oh btw I have bow and I'm In the process of going through the nyc process in order to be able to purchase a firearm. Hoping to lease some land next season if a good group forms. good luck out there tomorrow and every other day. Thanks
Hello all, I want to get into hunting with a rifle But I live in NYC. As most of you may or may not know, Its impossible to own a firearm in NYC. I was wondering if i got a hunting license would that allow me to purchase a hunting rifle? or would I have to go through the impossible steps to get a permit for a long gun? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
When I moved to New York, I thought there would be noone to talk about hunting with....Glad to find this website. Im 30 yrs old, origionally from Southwest Michigan, moved here 6 yrs ago, now live in Queens, work in a 50 sq ft cubicle in Manhattan, dream of being in the woods. In MI I did some shotgun hunting deer and pheasant hunting however haven't got into the hang of NY hunting yet. Trust me its a lot more difficult than in MI, I really respect you guys out here, it isn't easy. Picked up Archery 3 yrs ago since I left all my guns in MI (actually bought a few after going through NYC screening process....not easy! ) Still haven't taken a NY deer. Dont own any land, still figuring out the public land scene, plus only have a limited amount of days to hunt due to family/work obligations. Anyways, wanted to say hello, and get to know you guys and learn from you NY hunters. Plan to hunt Fahnestock State Park this year, did some camping/scouting this summer, looks like it will be difficult, plenty of deer sign but alot of hiking those hills. I expect alot of hunting pressure as well. Any kind souls hunting that land that would care to share their knowledge would be much appreciated, got my own gear, am very respectful, thoughtful and always share my meat! lol. I understand hunters like to keep their sweet spots close to their vest, haha. Anyways, good luck this season, weather starting to get cool. love it.
