Looking for a good pair of insulated rubber boots

Recommended Posts

I needed a good pair of insulated boots for this season and picked up a pair of Muck Boots Artic Pro Camo. They are rated down to -60. Compared to every other insulated boot that I've owned (2000gr thinsulate), they seem to weigh about half as much, they are much less "clunky" and combersome, and they are much more comfortable! I ordered mine from a dealer on Ebay for $130 (free shipping too). They are a little higher now. http://www.ebay.com/...=item2a1a55d026

I bought mine ~8 weeks before season to leave the set outside to get that "new" odor off of them. It took about that long too! If you plan on using this season, you better order ASAP. I even started wearing mine in the woods, while hiking, trimming, and working just to help wear the new odor off of them and have them start smelling more "woodsey". B)

I would certainly recommend these boots!

I just wore out my Cabela's 2000 gram boots, the heel cracked open. I picked up a pair of field and streams to get me through until I can order a new pair online. My thoughts are maybe I should just got pick up a pair of Mucks. I hate it when boots wear out, now I have to break these in and keep them outside with pine needles to get rid of the new smell.

Perhaps I forgot to mention that I have a bit of a boot fetish. I have 9 pair of boots that I wear regularly during hunting season. Most of them are the leather lace up kind. Of the 4 pair of rubber boots that I own, only one pair doesn't leak. They are a cheap pair of uninsulated red ball boots that I wear when I do chores on the farm. I have a pair of Muck woody sport boots that are 6-7 years old and love them, but they also have a small rip in the side of the boots that I keep repairing and only seems to rip open when I'm standing in calf high water. I will probably just get the Muck woody elite boots and move on with life.

After using the field and streams for a little bit, I have to say they are warm! The actual boot is about 3 inches shorter than my Cabelas but the 1000g is warmer than the Cabelas 2000g. The only things I don't like are, they stink like all hell(rubber) even after being covered in mud and walking across creek water and the gussets on the side don't stay closed. Besides that they fit true and aren't terribly expensive.
