Today...Mr B had to fix the water pump ...no problem...and I checked the guys stands and mine...wasn't going to hunt there but...bear dung in 3 different spots on the way to Mr B's stand...he's not sounding too resistant to me bow bear hunting down there now... He asked if I could take one from his stand..NO WAY....his stand is only 8ft off the ground...there are some great straight oaks to climb though....There were 2 stands on fix list and my stands were good and bad...good shape..bad because both are surrounded with deer beds...and I kicked out a buck...just saw flash of velvet...10 ft from my favorite stand...the trails were filled with droppings.

The mast down there isn't very good...but there are a few oaks dropping big acorns...not many apples but thorn apples are plentiful and as usual the buck thorn are loaded...most springs are dried up or just trickling...but all this means we'll know where they will concentrate their travels...so it's a win situation...It was nice going down...one thing about this lack of rain...golden rod is only 3ft instead of 5 ft tall it's a good Thing

I hunt a piece of state land not to far from your camp. Didn't see much sign yesterday when i went for a hike, until i crossed the ravine which drops over 200 feet in 500 feet. You almost never see sign in the bottom but i found multiple new rubs and deer tracks all around the water pools at the bottom. Only one oak dropping a few acorns but the hickory were dropping like crazy. I was a little disappointed i couldn't find a grey or two to bring home. I also ran across some bear droppings as well.

5.9....Our shag bark hickory were dropping a lot as well...thinking I'll go down this week and pick up a bag full for winter breads...I have a few branches to trim and a few scrub thorn apples to cut for the 243...aren't these hills fun?...Give the ole pump station a run for it's money for sure...lol...

Which state land do you Hunt?...I was talking to Mr B about the area around Kanakadea (SP?)....That was really full yesterday
