hunting at Mongaup Valley

Does anyone hunts on mongaup valley WMA? Looking for any information about hunting in this area. Any suggestinos would be greatly appreciated.

The deer hunting is poor very low population. There are plenty of bears and the turkey hunting is good but you have to fight the croweds. Small game is not worth the effort.

What public lands/forests would you recommend for the beginner hunter in the Sullivan, Ulster or Delaware counties. Areas 3A, 3H, 3K, or 4W.

I hunt there sometimes. Last year I saw plenty of does, but ZERO bucks, which I found a little disappointing since 3H is an AR WMU. I thought I would at least see some spikes, but alas....

There is some state land around Pine Bush, Walker Valley erea that used to be great hunting but I havn't hunted there in a few years.

I have been hunting this area for 17 years. I have shot two buck, one was a 6 pointer, the other was a button buck that I swore was a doe. Couldn't even see the nubs on its head unless you moved the fur away from them.

There are some big ones up there also. VERY few and FAR between tho... I suggest hunting elsewhere. I will be changing hunting locations my self this year.
