This question was put out there and this was my answer. After a long discussion. I finally broke and said this would be the only way I go for anything regarding more gun laws.

Is there any rational and achievable way to keep these type of weapons out of the hand of these mentally sick individuals ?

100% out of there hands? Never....But a way to try to get this done would be a immediate notification to a data base of someone being treated for mental disorders.Addresses would be flagged through data base, immediate response by law enforcement to make sure guns are kept locked or taken away. Complete check everytime during a gun purchase of any kind. Stop private sales unless completed through a FFL similar to a gun transfer. No more gun permits, every one must be certified by a gun card for types of guns. No further ban on any guns. Immediate laws regarding parents who do not treat mentally sick kids.
