growalot
Lets hope...So I've written this 3 times..lets see if I can shorten it... Morning walk with dog and 22....two raccoons a battle cry and scream.... they are at either end of Angel spinning ......blood every where....one coons leg is near tore off........ Angels paw and leg bleeding...I did my own roar and she broke off with a raccoon on her tail...I drop injured one ...the other goes into the hollow base of a lrg maple...Angel turns and follows it...head in to the tree.....there is growling and screaming......... I grab collar and yank her out.....give home command several times and then dispatched the tree coon due to it's face was half gone.....Angels nose was bitten and her paws...Well Well.... get home just in time to greet the internet repair guy...he just left again finally fixed...lets see if this post isn't lost like the others
growalot
Pheww that ended up being the longest (unseen) post yet...lol I need to get my pistol permit....seems like every spring if it's not skunks it's raccoons...she got lucky this time....that raccoon had no place to go...and I've seen some badly torn up dogs from cornered coons...Glad not to spend my B-Day in a vets office

growalot
I don't believe so....I find when the skunk and raccoon leave their dens in spring they are rather nasty...and when there is more than one really really bold...one spring not too long ago she saved me from a raccoon attack...I didn't have a weapon just tree limbs .......She'd grab it's tale as it ran at me, yanking it back and giving me time to wack it in the head...It took a good 20 + mins of this nonsense to get the dang thing dazed enough to run away...We finally got back to the house and the three of us...Mr B.and us, went back out to put it down and check for health...it didn't look sick...it was just one nasty raccoon...I've had raccoons follow me to my tree stands in the fall and climb into blinds during turkey season Been chased out of the woods by skunk several times...nature of living in the woods I guess...lol
BizCT
Happy Birthday! Yea, I hear about raccoons being nasty. I use to live trap them behind my parents house....Letting them out was intense. They would growl and bark.
growalot
The dog post got me thinking about this....not only would I protect myself ...but my dog as well.. The bite on Angels one foot its swollen up...I'm keeping an eye on it ...hoping not to get a vet bill running...also found a bite on the back of her ear...That one the other foot and her nose seem to be OK..I fear the swollen one may have caught bone
