Inspect your bow

Guy in my club went out on the last day of bow seaon. When he got out of his truck he dry drew the bow to limber up and the connection to the loop let go. Had to go to the ER, just an eye srcatch luckily. Its worth it to take your bow to a shop and have it inspected and tuned. You only get one set of eyes.

Glad your bud is ok.  How old was the loop?

I had a string/cable let go one time on me.  Freaked me right the flip out............it was a real "come to Jesus" moment.  I don't recall the exact age of of the goods but the condition would have been decent.  I wax my strings enough to take care of them but shiiit happens.  It was kind of dramatic shooting the bow after the string/cable was replaced.

Well, second chat with him, the cable didn't break. He torqued the bow so far on the draw that the loop slipped. To me that's real odd. Knowing him I suspect that the setup hasn't been touched in ten years. I always waxed and replaced my recurve strings, the compounds always spooked me on teh first few test draws, all those moving parts and cables.

Recurves can have issues also!!    Flashback:::: Xmas 1969, Used beautiful lemon wood longbow under the tree with MY name on it.  Dad strings it, I pull it back and KABAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!  Splinters, tears and shattered dreams...................

Thankfully I'm strong and persevered, a weaker soul may have just slipped into a deep depression, never to heal.

WTF was THAT?  :O
