The shortages are easing so you can buy on the way to the range. Once you have had it in the house locked up and out of sight she will realize it's not a big deal. Then take her shooting. It's hard to change the option of someone who thinks guns are dangerous when, as I remind my spouse weekly riding a horse is like 1000 times more dangerous than just about anything else, including mototcycles. Shooting is waaay down the list. It's emotion, not logic. There is also a great book called 'gun guys' something or other.
