growalot
So yesterday my trees were filled with high pitched calls/screams...I knew it was falcons but couldn't get a good look..I mean there were a bunch of them calling back and forth around the hill...today I pulled out of the drive and one fly out in front of me and down the hill so..big crow size sharp pointed wings..... sparrow in color shade and a very light color just above base of tail.....now we have lots of hawks so I know their call and that's not any of them............. I just do not know what type of falcon would be in our hardwoods...saw them hanging out near mulberry trees as well...but the turkeys and poults have been there and in SB's planted up to them. a long with a bunch of rabbits...Ha! just heard them now ...in hedge row next to big clover field... growalot
OK guys, really what is up with this...just got chased..literally chased out of my garden while picking blueberries...so really good look at these birds...by the way they have a really nasty disposition and scream. Smallish head, light beak, light belly and barred tail...and they do not like having their hunting interrupted...After first dive ..I thought well mistake and got to thinking...listen to all those sparrows and chickadees in the mulberries trees...(just behind garden fence and berries) ...then well the beans...the rabbits and turkey poults have been in the beans and eating mulberries off the ground...about then there were two of them swooping in and circling, then a 3rd...when I nearly dropped my berries and started to run...dang they followed me to the goat barn...NOT COOL I have a lot of berries to pick! From description what are they?...

PREDATE
Check into coopers hawk too. They're very agile forest hunters. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk
growalot
Well we have had Goshawks nest here in the past but not for a few years...I'd watch them take out a lot of squirrel while sitting on stand...I don't recall their calls sounding like this thou..nor them making such a racket...listening to them in the woods they rival the crows and bluejays...which come to think about it...not many jays around now...hhmmm..I can't find my raptor book... growalot
OK so I found the Cornell site that had the call recordings...Mr B walked in as I was playing the Coopers and said I hear that all the time in the woods behind the house...I played the goshawk and the shrieks I heard from the birds that dive bombed me..... I have to say Goshawk....So I lean toward Goshawk due to the fact they have raised clutches here in the past...but who's to say it isn't both in the area ...for the one that flew down the hill in front of me looked like a Cooper in color and size
