I found but 1 small oyster this year and that was while turkey hunting. I don't target oysters per se, but they're always welcome in my fungi collecting bag. Check out the date on this screen shot of last years mushroom thread. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Just in the past few hours I've picked about 6 lbs.and that's not even 3%. We could use some rain since most are struggling to get beyond button stage and most of the big ones are beginning to dry out. Most are bug free. With rain come the bugs so it's a catch 22. That looks like either a Berkely's Polypore or a Black-Staining Polypore. Both of which are supposedly edible, but I haven't tried them. One word of caution is to be aware of pesticide usage at golf courses or parks. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

My boss found some beauties on Friday. I'm gonna hit the woods in a little while, rain or shine. They're often found on living trees, so they should come back as long as the Mycelium hasn't completely consumed the host. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Can some one please identify this big bastard?

Don't think we have recluse this far north. My guess is a Nursery Web Spider. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Most likely. Might still find some in higher elevations. I looked a little last weekend and didn't see any. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

See post above. Looks like you also found a Neofavolus alveolaris Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

I doubt it. A bit early for them. I think what you have might be Neofavolus alveolaris. Hard to tell without close-up pic. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

I definitely don't scoff at morels. They do have a nice delicate flavor and texture, but there are many other mushrooms that have more robust mushroom flavor along with great texture. Tbt I flat-out disliked Hen of the Woods for a number of years. Then a couple of years ago I gave them another chance and they are now in my top three favorites. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

That's a tough one as I have many favorites. They all have their own distinctive taste and texture. >Cantharellus genus(chanterelles) >Craterellus genus(black trumpets) >Maitake(hen-of-the woods) >Laetiporus Sulphureus / Laetiporus Cincinatus(chicken-of-the woods) >Bi-color bolete >Hereicum genus >Shaggy mane >Hedgehog >Oyster >Lobster This year I hope to delve into the Lactarius genus(milk caps). I eat some, give some away and dehydrate some. Truth be told, morels aren't my favorite mushroom, but I enjoy them mostly for the hunt. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Bummer.Remember, you're looking for that low/mid 50's soil temp so it's time to begin searching higher elevations and on all sides of hills. Good luck. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
